Problem 1: I'm in the same boat on a few of these lists. I think people can throw together a group of at least 40 albums they like. If not, there's no obligation to do all of the lists, just go with those which you feel comfortable doing. Nothing wrong with a bunch of Beatles on a 60's list. Mine and I'm sure many other people will do that as well considering their popularity. Also think of it as an opportunity to get to know an era you don't know as well just a bit better, especially with the results.

Problem 2: All genres, not just prog. We can't all just listen to one genre all the time, right?

I don't think I have enough albums from most of the eras, most especially the 80s.  Oh, and does this (-Lists may include any officially released title (full-length, live, EP) from any genre) mean any prog genre or ANY genre, including jazz, etc.?

I think I'll have to skip this one Cry I haven't heard 100 albums from that decade and if I did a smaller list it would be just filled with Beatles and stuff.

After those "ultimate" lists, the idea was thrown around that we do a PA definitive top 100 by decade over the next few months, leading to the end of the one we're in. And it's a go! We will be doing one list a month for the next five months. It'll be fun. Plus, it's guarenteed to render more interesting results than those other polls. Let's try to make it work.

So this is what we're looking at:

September: Top 100 of the 60s
October: Top 100 of the 70s
November: Top 100 of the 80s
December: Top 100 of the 90s
January: Top 100 of the 00s

-Lists will be accepted until the 1st day of the following month, and results will be revealed [more than likely] at some point in that month, though we're under no obligation to post results until the beginning of next year.

-Lists may include any officially released title (full-length, live, EP) from any genre

-Data will be compiled predominantly by moreitsythanyou and myself, unless we get some volunteers to help out along the way, using an as yet undetermined rating system.

-Lists can range from 40-150 selections

-Rules are subject to change at any point along the way.

So with that, the Top 100 of the 60s list is now underway. Get working on those lists!
