i feel better today after re-reviewing the album Medulla. It reads a lot better and you make sense, Negoba, in saying that fans of dissonance, acapella and avant music will likely be drawn to that - and that is not a bad thing really as it will appeal to that fan. Intelligent thinkingClap.
 
Thanks for all kind words too from above posts. Its true I bowed a bit under pressure as Sean states above but I feel that integrity among my peers is far more valuable and I rarely listen to an album only once. The second time it actually made more sense so I wasnt as scathing and attacking. Now the review has more creedence and I like the way it flows. Its my most controversial review ever, so i wont forget that. Anyway, Have a good weekend one and all. i appreciate all of your input.Approve

So after over 400 reviews i get reported once. It had to happen i suppose, the odds are 1 in 400 now arent they?
 
Well if you delete this review because i only listened to it once, how about deleting all the reviews of once only listeners - theres hundreds. Life is too busy to be listening to albums over and over just for reviewing purpose. One listen was easily enough to know I would never like this album. I usually listen to albums at least 3 times if I am IN DOUBT. Same applies to Kayo Dot. One listen was once too many for this reviewer.
 
Yes we all know you thought it was a brilliant album Negoba, Eureka! but not everyone has that opinion, they are just too lazy to do a review. I researched and listened to EVERY SONG and thats not beyond the guidelines. So if you believe that is retaliation to a review you didnt agree with, I dont get it. You know this is the way the world works.... not everyone is going to agree with opinions. Not everyone is going to agree on everything. You do not like the review, so  i can understand that, but to delete this is extreme when you consider how many other reviewers dont even listen to whole albums and give reasons why they dont like it that are ridiculous, such as my wife did not like it. Those reviews are still here.
 
I gave good logical reasons per track, I could not find one so had to hear it live but that won't change my opinion. One song with or without piano. My reasons are clear and there is no misunderstanding, it is clear why i dont like the album. And reviewers do this. If they dont like something, a movie or Cd per se, they will make that clear giving reasons why ... i didnt receive one PM about this review yet you bring it up as a report. Extreme, don't you think?
 
Why report this particular review, there are others here on PA who would agree with my review.
 
Bjork is love or hate her - you love her, I hate her. Is that OK with you? I will review another Bjork when I borrow it from the library - i wont be buying any of her material though. i WILL listen to it 3 times. Is that Ok with you?


You didn't review the album, you reviewed some youtube clips - once, and with a specific motive in mind before you even heard them. In fact, you referenced music that wasn't even on the album. Worth a report and worth a delete.

The thing is, even if you were motivated for whatever reason to write a scathing review on Medulla, that initial review before it's changes and flaws ( i.e YT listening only) was still a very well written review. The changes make it even more credible and my biggest appreciation is that out of ALL the naysayers to Bjork, you at least took considerable time out to show your dislike of an album by writing a review. How many times have we agreed, we can all put posts up about how we dislike an artist, how we perceive certain prog genres should sound like BUT the proof and conviction of those views carrys most weight in a review, so kudos to you ACV even if I disagree with the reviewSmile

That's my take on following this discussion, I think listening to the actual album should be a minimum requirement - other than that, nothing wrong with the rating or review.

no, you are right. i went into that review with a negative attitude. and i am feeling pretty sorry for that. When you said your piece earlier, that actually hurt the most. As I respect your input here.

OK the infamous Bjork review has been 'repaired' - it is not as attacking and at least is fair. Hope that proves i am not a stick in the mud and at least will listen to my respected colleagues, rather than ignore constructive criticisms.  I just tell it how I hear it like most reviewers do here.    So no harm done.

For the record Scott, it was never the low rating or the harshness I took issue with.....I may be pretty brutal in some of my reviews with her too when they come up, but I've heard those albums many times.....it was only about the single-listen and youtube live cut that surprised me.  You have every right to hate her music and say so....I think you should keep your one-star if that's what you really think.

OK I listened to some of it again and wacked another star on the review. And am deleting some of the more attacking commentary. I was pretty scathing there. I can take on board the comments here and understand these as constructive criticism. Cheers!
