I love non European style of play because im bored with physical and long balls style, in Europe only Czech Republic seems to play beautifuly ,well at least that was the case in Euro 2004.

Hahaha England scoring much? I don't think so, they SUCKED. They won because of Paraguay scoring in their own goal, haha!

Epic.

We'll do fine I think. It really was just that one defender (Friedrich)
who screwed up on both goals. If we can replace him, it seems like a
good team to me.
England on the other hand .... I didn't expect them to be as good as
they pretended to be (super-arrogant by the way..) , but I didn't know
they're that bad. That was one horrible game.

The England-Paraguay goes very slow and quite unattractive.

I am just watching the BBC, Owen looks so sharp in the replays of his previous World Champion goals , I am sure he will score ...
Remarkable, all those England supporters in the stands wearing plastic German helmets and Crusaders capes!
My prediction for the game:
England-Paraguay 4-1 (2x Owen + Crouch + Beckham)

My predictions:
England 3 Paraguay 0 (Crouch,Gerrard & Terry)
Sweden 2 T&T 0
Argentina 2 Ivory Coast 2
I'd hoped that the standard of linesmen (OK,Asst Refs) would improve in the WC. In England they are terrible frequently flagging offside when the ball has been played and received perfectly. However Poland scored a perfectly ggod goal last night and of course it was given offside. They seem to forget that the benefit of doubt should be given to the attacking player if he and the last defender are level.Linesmen seem to guess all the time and it is time that FIFA took action and stood them down for poor decisions.
Germany seem to have adopted the kamikaze approach to playing.I find this very refreshing and at odds with their "efficient" (ie boring and methodical) tag.Klinsmann seems to be a coach in the style of an Ardiles (the Spurs connection?) or a Keegan.Unfortunately in the big games this style of play will see you get hammered by the quick-breaking teams like Brazil,Spain and Czech.

In The Seventies I loved to watch the German 'Sportschau' ( WDR1,18.10), Schalke 04 became my favorite team ("ich bin ein Schalke 04 Schlachtenbumler") because of Klaus Fischer (famous 'bicycle kick'), the Cremer brothers, Rolf Russmann, ... great days !
Nowadays I cannot enjoy the German team, what a poor technical side, so defensive but they have a superb mentality and they can score any moment ... .. and they have Michael Ballack, Sebastian Schweinsteiger and Klaus Podolsky, the only German players I like to see.

Well I'm hoping for an England victory today but after seeing well Ecuador played against Poland I now know England must not underestimate the smaller South American nations. Plus England have only ever won 4 of the opening games in all tournaments. So I'm going to go for a draw....

Germany will win, of course; they always start rather badly into a
tournament and get better from match to match. This is much better than
the other way round. I remember being five years old when Germany won
the worldcup in 1974; it was probably all the excitement of the
grown-ups what got me in to football. And of course my whole family
being die-hard fans of German football club Schalke 04.

Congrats to Ecuador for a great result against Poland - I thought the 2 centre backs were awesome! A very patient team strategy, too........if Paraguay play the same way - and they must be encouraged - or maybe challenged? - by Ecuador's success, I reckon they'll provide England with more than a few problems....there's a definite sense here of the only unknown being by how many we will beat Paraguay.........can't help feeling such arrogance will turn round & bite us in the bum......incidentally, not sure Germany's tactic of planting their centre backs in the ground before the game will catch on....... ....a little mobility is usually advantageous for these guys......

Football often is very boring; but save your opinions for games in which both sides are more or less equal - such as England vs Paraguay today.

What did you expect?
Actually, I expected our team to do better, too... but I'm hardly surprised by the result. With a following ten times smaller than Poland's and in less familiar atmospheric conditions, Ecuador still won 2:0.
Simply put - the better team won. My congratulations to the Ecuadorians .

Today it really starts:
- England-Paraguay (our foster parent child Elias lives in Paraguay but I go for England
 )
- Trinidad & Tobago-Sweden (T&T has a Dutch coach, Leo Beenhakker)
- Argentina-Ivory Coast (I hope Messi will play at least half the game and I am curious
to Drogba, it's a predator!).
