Because for many people, average of 3 stars means extremely bad ? Just thinking.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

To be fair, it's a reasonable defence of their case and work though, isn't it?

The phrase "prog snob" and the lambasting of other reviewers I believe would be against the rules:

I remember the same thing happened with PT's last album. It is possible for those who have already reviewed it to be fan club members, but even then, the special pre-order edition is only out on the 17th. I'm calling those reviews seriously dodgy at best. Also, none of them have actually reviewed the album, just rated it (highly too) which makes it seem even more suspect.

Confused

That's a ridiculously high rating for an unreleased album, going to call "sketchy fanboys" on that

Erm...No, not really, and I've tried a couple of times. No need for the bad language used and sounds like a commentary rather than a review, although I can't really tell.
The review is so weird that I think a person could write this without even listening to the actual songs

interesting though, certainly original approach - not the way i would ever write... reviews should tell you about the album itself

Yep, that's something I always am trying to pursuit.

I'd hardly call it tragic, but look in this forum a couple topics down and you'll see that's already alerted the site about his mistake.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Tragic mistake by a respected reviewer to post the same review for both MR SIRIUS albums:

yeah your a fool to trust posting straight in , i cant tell you how many times its failed on me so at least copy it before submitting or you will lose it occasionally.

Do you know what this means ? :-Dout

Or simple:

Have you ever done this thing ? Hitting space between your fingers, thumb - pointing, pointing - middle etc ? I haven't, only slowly, but my father did this hundreds of times and he still has all 10 fingers. It may be about skills, of course :-)

Well, I can tell you about something I personally did hundreds of times. Reviewing. From all 530 review I've posted only 5 had gone to hell, so this is fair chance to me. I don't like writing reviews in notepad/office, I like to write them in PA review form.

Yeah, and why can't somebody point out that fact? Should PA really be like AMG and only contain positive reviews?
Quote And even if I do not like King Crimson very much, I don't humiliate ths group as this one does for Kaipa.
It happens that this CD is in my Top-3 favorite prog albums of all-time !
So we should rate things highly because other people rate them highly?

I am, in fact, John McFerrin, the original writer of the review.  I thought it would be interesting to post a few of my reviews over at progarchives; I've also posted reviews of Tago Mago and Freak Out! so far.  I figure extra exposure wouldn't kill me.  I'll probably post more here over time.

1 stars I am sure I'll offend many fans of this band with my review, but I cannot stop myself to criticise and condamn this kind of music that this guys are doing! My oppinion is that THE MARS VOLTA are really pushig the boundaries of madness and imposture to an unbelieveble level, just in the name of the fact thet they pretend to be themselves ORIGINALS!I think that the guys simply took too many drugs and other happy substances, and they are permanently stoned and in this state of mind and spirit they expsess themselves...musically!It's an amalgam of hysterical musical ideas, with hysterical vocals-annoying and able to disturb the brain of any normal person, and I think that it's almost impossible for this guys to play a second time this compostions the same way like the song was initially composed?!?!Am I right? Undoubtedly, they are good - instrumentally speaking, they are performant musicians, but the final product is a mixture of crazy, twisted and tortured ideas...Zappa can be proud about this twisted mutants, and the frenzy and hallucinating music express only the tortured mind and spirit of the musicians from the band!Listening a whole MARS VOLTA album from the first to the last song is a trial of fire... a torture...a test of will ..an exercise of mental resistance!!! Honestly...if this is the future of music..I am very worried ,dissapointed and sad!By the way...they cannot be included in any category,in my oppinion...anyway they are not prog metal at all!!!...maybee it's necessary to invent a new musical category for TMV-stupid,stoned and hysterical music?!?!Without any star...well 1 for nothing!

I dont know - Infact he makes The Mars Volta very interesting.
"Undoubtedly, they are good - instrumentally speaking, they are performant musicians, but the final product is a mixture of crazy, twisted and tortured ideas..."
Would make me want to go listen to a band that can get an aparently sane person to blow up like this, while he at the same time credit there skill's.
Infact he is insulting everyone of us, who lovs The Volta, but how cares ! It is funny to read Smile
Especialy when You know that The Mars Volta deliberatly makes music to provoke, in this case with great success. Clap

I am not impressed at all with this. It insults the listener rather than the album.
