Normally, I would have voted for the Art Zoyd, being primarily a RIO kinda guy. But the poll included Carmen so I had to vote for their album. I remember seeing them on David Bowie's 1980 Floor Show (The Midnight Special) the first time it broadcast. Even surrounded by examples of Bowie's genius, Carmen totally floored me. Dancing on a Cold Wind isn't up to the level of Fandangos in Space, but it's still a remarkable work.

yeah... I think Daryl confused this with polls of mine. I went YEARS on this forum before a single poll of mine made it to page 2.

4 albums I truly love here. But Dimension Hätross is THE epic Sci-Fi prog-avant-thrash-metal concept album.

Some of my very favourite bands in there. Love the Tortoise and the Moving Gelatine Plates one but I prefer Pollution, Phase IV and Einsjager & Siebenjager by quite a margin. I have a soft spot for Popol Vuh and the guitar playing of Daniel Fichelscher on the post-electronic era of Popol Vuh albums (Seligpreisung, E&S, Das Holehied Salomos) is otherworldly.

You might be surprised (if you come back). Anyway, taking part in the necrophilia when it comes to dead polls to highlight some of the not so usual suspects, I wonder if I missed this poll first time round (could have been when I was taking a long break from the site) or I found it too difficult to choose. Three of these albums are not in my collection, the Voivod, that Carmen, and that Tortoise (I have the Carmen debut and know Voivod's Nothingface and have earlier Tortoise albums). Of the seven I know, there is so much win here. I am going to go with my typical favourite, Art Zoyd, despite finding this topic because I was searching for Popol Vuh. That's one of my less-listened to albums by Art Zoyd over the years, and it took me longer to appreciate than various others, and right now, that is the Art Zoyd that I would most like to put on. Most any poll wchich includes Zao, Art Zoyd, Popol Vuh, Heldon, Battiato or Moving Gelatine Plates is likely to be pretty full of win for me, and I like music by all of these bands (Maneige and Tortoise I have played a lot). |

I only know Voivod and Tortoise.
I listened to Maneige a few years ago but don't remember what album it was. I guess I was not that impressed. |

I have heard only Dancing on a Cold Wind, which is not enough to vote. I would gladly have chosen this masterpiece.

Maneige for me, although nowhere near the brilliance of "Les Porches"

Art Zoyd and Tortoise are basically tied for me. Ultimately went with the former.

Moving Gelatine Plates, very easily.
I like the Maneige albums prior to that one a lot more and I actually haven't heard that Tortoise album..
