Just found it and ordered it through Amazon.UK Marketplace section - although it is being imported from USA - thanks to the recommendee!!! BTW has Greg Howe covered anything originally recorded by Allan Holdsworth? As much as I like Victor Wooten as a bass player who takes the lead, to me Jonas Hellborg is the master of the 4 string electric bass guitar, especially as part of a rhythm section. However, his acoustic bass guitar playing must stick out ahead of allcomers - check out his solo album,The Silent Life, or the albums with various other artists, The Word, Octave Of The Holy Innocents or Icon. |

Nice! Best bass player I've ever seen would have to be Jeff Berlin, just jaw dropping stuff and even more impressive, the sheer musicality. Geddy refers to him as the "bass god of the universe" or some such. |

Ah yes, Gary Lucas, sorry, his name did escape my list, sorry Dick!
Indeed, I got mine (Deep End) a few years ago I think (2004), both volumes 1 and 2, plus the Loose Ends CD, for £6.99 or something ridiculous, a complete bargain! I do have to agree there, especially when Ayreon's "The Human Equation" cose me £22! Oh, you were referring to the Deepest End live concert..., erm, I forget how much that cost me, but probably still cheap. Oh and nice avatar too! Edited by Geck0 |

I'll have to check that Dick, John Schofield definitely played on the
"Deep End" CDs for Gov't Mule, but I forget who the bass player was,
I'll go and check.
Tony Levin has also guested with Gov't Mule (on "Deep End" albums), as well as playing 21st Century Schizoild Man on stage with them, which I've yet to hear, I really want to. Deep End and Deepest End albums read like a who's who of musicians. John Schofield, Victor Wooten, Béla Fleck, Les Claypool, Tony Levin, Flea, Greg Rzab, George Porter Jr., Rocco Prestia, Bootsy Collins, Phil Lesh, Mike Gordon, John Entwistle, Larry Graham, Stefan Lessard, Dave Schools, Jack Bruce, Audley Freed, Jerry Cantrell, Roger Glover, Randall Bramblett, Page McConnell, Little Milton Campbell, Bernie Worrell, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Gregg Allman, Jack Casady, Billy Cox, Alphonso Johnson, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Jason Newsted, James Hetfield, John Medeski and not forgetting Chris Squire! So a lot of great musicians involved and lots of wonderful music too. |

Mindboggling bassist, but Stanley Clarke's work on Return to Forever's s/t still overshadows his stuff, IMHO.

Certainly the best bass player I've ever heard, seen (in a small club), and had the privilege to meet and shake the hand of -- an absolute MONSTER! Scary good!

I started a thread on The flecktones Their best (that i have discovered so far) are Bela Fleck and The Flecktones and Flight of the Cosmic Hippo. Both great and good places to start. And this guy is one hell of a bassist. |

Didn't VW also play with John Scofield too, both as guests with Govt Mule? Read one serious jazz rock critic who put me off buying the last Victor Wotton CD, stating that the album was diluted by the presence of too many of the Wottons contributing, to the point that a listener would be embarrassed that he or she were gate crashing a familiy affair! Instead I bought the Matt Garrison CD/DVD, which brings together several of the musicians on Gary Husband's Force Majeure DVD ) as does the soon to be released Randy Brecker Some Skunk Funk Live CD. However tempted to track down some of the VW DVDs. |

He's the man, he's awesome. Don't die until you have seen him live. The Flecktones came to Tech last year and he did a bass solo that literally brought tears to my eyes. 2000 people in the auditorium were on their feet screaming for a bass solo. it was amazing. I worked for the concert committee at the time, so I got the chance to haul some of his gear. It's a chore to do it for some bands, but for Vic it was an honor!
