I have always enjoyed Chris Squires bass and for me this periood was when Yes were at their most awsome

1. Lee - Peart

2. Squire - Bruford

3. Wetton - Bruford

4. Lake - Giles

However, I'd add Sinclair-Coughlan (Caravan) to this list.

It's really dificult to pick just one, i went with Högberg - Olsson  just 'cause they didn't have a vote, but Squire-Bruford, and Reingold - Csörsz i like them equally

Thart would explain many things and why some people don't like their music despite they are so talented.

If the rhythm section doesn't work almost as one man, the band doesn't work. I can't believe Portnoy said that.

Yes,and they are a great rhythm section.

They also worked together in Aghora.

I'll go for Lee-Peart!

Even though i am a gigantic huge DT fan, Mike portnoy fan, but I prefer Lee-Peart's style. They sound so tight that I am very very impressed...

For Portnoy and Myung, well, I would say Portnoy is more of a Melodic Drummer, meaning following the song rather than more of the rhythm... Therefore, I didn't cast a vote for Myung and Portnoy. They dun sounds rhythmic enough for me..

Oh, if we have a whole army:
Francis Moze (bass), Pierre Moerlen (drums and percussion), Mino Cinelu (percussion) and Mireille Bauer (percussion) of Gong.
Freddy Setz (drums) and Lutz Oldemeyer (drums) and Helmut Meier-Limberg (percussion) and Matz Steinke (bass) of Aera.

I can't help noticing the wrong (and strangely fashionable) usage of the apostrophe in the name of the thread. It is a plural "s" and not a genitive "s", hence it should be "rhythm sections".

I never understand why people say they cant here Myung, I have no trouble on all but a few songs and I have cheap, rubbish speakers/headphones.

I can barely hear Myung at all on OCTAVARIUM.  Which is weird because, IMO, the sound of TRAIN OF THOUGHT is a lot dirtier than OCTAVARIUM, yet I can hear Myung more clearly.

OK, I have re-listened to Octavarium (first time in ages) and your right you can bearly hear him on this album, I'd forgoten this, but he is as clear as you would expect a bassist to be on the other albums.

Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

Because even Gilmour-Mason would rank better.

hey mason isnt bad he is just minimalist and i think his drumming is very effective for pink floyd as well as roger's bass playing even though i feel he could do better if he applied himself more.

Suritis: The Remembering.
Hopefully we should appreciate that given points in time are not so significant as the nature of what is impressed on the mind, and how it is retained and used.
