High Bias is good, but it's not as exciting or consistent of an album as the last two. Some of the tracks get a little boring to me. I'd rank it third best. |

The thing I didn't like about the first album was the drumming. The drum sound is too loud and he doesn't even play like a jazz drummer. It isn't very authentic sounding

I totally agree. The talent in Niacin is phenomonal.Especially Chambers, one of the best drummers in music today. If you could only try one Niacin album I highly recommend Time Crunch. |

I don`t think you are looking for any recommendations. I have a pretty
good idea what you are looking for but I won`t tell you. Sounds as if
your Dad might like the site.

There are ratings AND reviews. And considering that these are submitted by the same people who post in the forum, there really is no reason to ask for general recommendations here. About Niacin: Get High Bias, it's their best album. |

I never look at the ratings. According to this site, Nursery cryme is a top 10 album, but I doubt it would be a top 50 album for me. My dad copied the cd for me

Their debut album is only average IMO. The question is: Why do you start with their worst album? Do you ignore the ratings and reviews? Or did you never even plan to give them a chance, and just try to make them fit into your view of modern music? |

Ouch!! "In general"? Er, Dennis Chambers on drums and Billy Sheehan on bass?? If you wanted to get away with ragging on John Novello, you could make a bid for it, but those other two are generally considered the "draws," if you get my drift. And the last two CDs Time Crunch and Organik are amazing! If you like organ-led highly technical fusion trios, you can't not like Niacin! __________________________________________ http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQrdZ0QQs assZnicedreemz |

You have got to give my recommendations a shot. I've only heard the debut once, and from what I remember it's not as technical or enjoyable; it's more straightforward jazz (at least compared to present material). Time Crunch and Organik are the ones to check out. You may not like those either, but they're definitely worth a shot. Great Fusion compositions and musicianship. They do some pretty good covers on each too: Time Crunch has a cover of "Red" and Organik has a cover of "King Kong."

What album did you get? I recommend Time Crunch and/or Organik. They are the most impressive and enjoyable. More rocking too. Their musicianship is the cream of the crop. Top notch players.
