Topic: Your favorite prog sub-genre... Posted: July 16 2006 at 10:45 |
Well... 1° Italian progressive rock, 2° Space rock, 3° RIO/Zeuhl/Art Rock...
PS... I like very much when a group mixes styles...

Prog metal is my fav (don't know how long that'll last but I'm going through an Opeth phase, similar to my DT phase) but I also really like Art/Psychedelic Rock, and I'm starting to get into Avante-prog

krautrock first, then progressive electronic and every folk fusion including extra-occidental elements, a little of RIO / avant garde.

Symphonic would me my top. I consider it in the same category, but Italian Symphonic is quickly gaining ground, and may become no. 1. Zeuhl is also a new passion. The only one I generally don't care for is prog metal.

Art Rock followed by RIO. RIO requires a mood to be in, whereas Art-Rock is my all around love.

Experimental, Jazzrock/Fusion, Krautrock, Psych/Space Rock
Used to love Postrock until it got hijacked by all the sickening indie/emo kids.....those curious stick to Tortoise, Labradford and Mogwai (up to EP from 99). though Mono (Japan) is pretty decent too.
