Why don't we put all the hate aside and wait till the album comes out.
By the way DT haters and fanboys both have the brains the size of walnuts

Dream Theater's new opus, Octavarium, is magnificent.  Fans who balked at ToT's metal roots may have indeed found the album they were looking for.  It seems as if they wanted to return to their Images and Words roots while keeping the virtuousic element they have developed over the past 15 years.  The title track is particularly outstanding; at over 20 minutes, I would say it gives A Change Of Seasons a run for its money.  With The Root Of All Evil continuing the Glass Prison saga in a nice, progressive manner, it's quite obvious that Dream Theater still have plenty of ideas left.  Definitely less metal than its predecessor, but still retaining a measure of heaviness and variety, this album is sure to please fans both old and new.  5/5 stars.

  And I haven't heard a single note!

Great job mate You just wrote a review of the perfect Octavarium version.. Images & Words + A Change of Seasons That would be a really perfect album... Kevin come baaack!!!!!

Well I know I've heard Panic Attack and These Walls and wel...it's not too hot. It's ctachy, but it's like...a big mix of Dream Theater, Linkin Park and some Metallica. The end is result is...welll, I just hope the other songs are better.

Well, it wasnt worth creating another subject... but if you go to www.gigantour.com and listen to the second sample that plays in the background, it's Panic Attack from the new album...

Just FYI...

LOL, actually I wound up breaking down and getting EoP. Aside from the lyrics on a few songs, I'm pretty pleased.

Here's an MP3 of the WORST song on EoP

http://aaron.theaftershow.com/jameslabrie-alone.mp3

If you like this, you'll LOVE the album...  because this is by far the worst track on the album, almost sounds like a technically proficient Linkin Park without the rapping.

Squares up with what I heard...I think I know where a copy is, and I think I'm gonna break down and buy it. Considering I liked Train of Thought, and James LaBrie's voice in general, this sounds good. Thanks.

EoP, to me, is the album ToT should've been.  Not as much w**king, more straightforward, excellent songwriting...  very atmospheric, PERFECT production.  Not so many crazy instrumental sections, but the songs are top-notch for the most part.  Very metal.

In all seriousness, how IS Elements of Persuasion? What does it compare most to, in the DT catalogue?

If someone managed to download this album this early, and hasn't heard LaBrie's elements of persuasion first, please do so.  It is the same album.  The Octavarium copy that is currently available is not Octavarium but LaBrie's Elements of Persuasion (Which is still a massive release by the way - Just not Octavarium).

PS if you want an album, wait until the release date and BUY IT! Help the bands

Cheers

They look legit, but they also look like they could be made by anyone who's been following the album's progress.  See, I can do one too!

I suspect it'll be more prog than metal, since TOT was the opposite, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.  The reviews DO look pretty legit, however.

I don't really care for reviews anyway, because I'm buying it regardless of what reviews it gets.
