It has been approved for Heavy Prog, but additions are a lot of work and it's on the list to be added. Maybe if you or someone else offered to prepare the addition it would speed things up. |

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

The german radio station Rock Antenne voted "Karnivool - Sound Awake" to the album of the week:
http://www.rockantenne.de/album-der-woche/item/581-der-tipp-der-woche-karnivool-sound-awake The new album is great and I wonder why they weren't added already... ![]() Edited by tobbls - April 04 2010 at 12:45 |

The PMT have listened to the "Sound Awake" album and we don´t feel that there are enough "metal" elements on the album to warrant an inclusion in one of the three metal subs, so we´ve asked the heavy prog team to take over the evaluation. So Karnivool is now in the hands of the Heavy Prog team.

I've got their new album, its very good stuff.
I would add them under Heavy Prog if it was my call. It's like Tool.

Ita good to see Karnivool being mentioned quite a lot in the forums. it would be awesome to see them included on this site. Sound Awake is an amazing album, definately has prog elements throughout it. I saw them live at the big day out in Australia and they were simply amazing, such a tight sounding and awesome band

Themata is a brilliant, brilliant anthemic rock record BUT it isn't overly progressive.
However the new album, Sound Awake, is very much a prog record. They've become even proggier than they were if that makes sense. |

Cheers. I agree that samples wouldn't do a band like this justice.

Allright then I´ll try and get a hold of those albums, and tell the other members of the team that we need to listen to more than the myspace samples in this case.

^ I'd recommend their latest album 'Sound Awake'. They've only released two full length albums, the later having been released last year. Highly intricate, diverse, dynamic, eclectic and a unique blend of melodic progressive metal and alternative rock. There's even a Meshuggah influence present in tracks such as 'Goliath'.

They are currently being evaluated by the Progressive Metal Team: http://progfreak.com/home/progarchives?path=pm/nw&block=5
Any specific album that we should listen to. I´ve only listened to the myspace samples and I´m in doubt.

Thought I'd bump this thread again. These guys would belong very well here, and I was amazed to find they weren't already listed when looking them up at first. Highly progressive.

Karnivool are a fantastic band, and one which definitely deserves to be included on this site under the Heavy Prog category.
If you like them and haven't already checked out Cog as well, you should do so. They're another band that really ought to be be added to these archives. http://www.myspace.com/cogrockmusic Sleep Parade another great band from Aus, but more on the alternative/progressive border. Unfortunately they don't get the recognition they deserve, even here. http://www.myspace.com/sleepparade < listen to "Every Day" and "Weeping Walls" Edited by Firdous e Bareen - October 10 2009 at 01:26 |
