I've only heard one of these, but I love it to death, so here goes.
Queen is my favorite band, and News of The World is my second favorite album of theirs, after Queen II. Apart from the stellar (yet overplayed) opening duo of We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, some of my favorite Queen tracks are here. The melancholy "All Dead, All Dead" the proto-punk "Sheer Heart Attack" the bluesy and funny "Sleeping on the Sidewalk" and my personal favorite, "It's Late." News of the World is where Brian May really shines as a songwriter. Freddie Mercury was running out of ideas (Get Down Make Love) but I have always loved Brian's songs and they really stand out here. |

I'm sorry to say that The Bedlam In Goliath is also my least favorite from that list. |

I can't believe that The Bedlam in Goliath has been listed together with those other albums. However, as my ancestors the Romans used to say, you can't argue about tastes...

It's been a good many year since I plopped that little bit of vinyl called News of the World on the turntable, and that little bit of vinyl is now sadly lost, but I don't remember it being so atrocious. Has my memory failed me so terribly? I mean I don't remember it as a shining masterpiece to be hallowed in the Great Halls. But is it really that terrible?
Haven't heard a number of the other sad and lonely stars here. What I've heard of the Yes album though makes my tummy feel very, very icky.

I have always liked The Mars Volta, Amputeccture being my favorite album. I liked Bedlam quite a bit but did not really like the way it was mixed, which kind of ruined it for me.
Anyway, Volta gets my vote.

Same here! And on that note, i really feel like defending News of the World: sure Queen are mainly known for the hits (and here we have two mammoth sized examples: We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions), but the albums do not disappoint either. NOTW is among those last albums that enter the Classic Queen category. It is just another proof that they were one of the most versatile bands ever: jumping from punk (Sheer Heart Attack) to psych (Get Down Make Love), from blues (My Melancholy Blues) to hard rock (the beautiful It's Late) and so on. And the best part is that despite this pretty dubious combination of genres, the album still remains solid. Of course the album as a whole would be ranked as prog related, but it's definetly worth at least 3 stars by prog standars. |

Voted for GLASS HAMMER...half of the album is very cheesy and uninspired while the other holds some quite interesting moments...Not that bad.

See! With age comes wisdom Volume is very much the issue with this album. This production (mastering) makes your ears split. |

No vote. I don't have any of these albums and probably never will although my daughter wants to get "Bedlam In Goliath", so if she does i'll check it out.

I actually hated that album first several times. I hated The Mars Volta the first several times I heard them. However, I found that by listening to The Bedlam in Goliath at a lower volume, I really began to enjoy it. It's still by far my least favorite album from the band, but it retains four stars from me. I don't have all titles from this list but it looks like a pretty weak collection of albums indeed. I would only make an exception for "The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath", which has its issues (I agree with many points in your review) but still deserves 3 stars or something. |

Bedlam in Goliath, easily. Only close-minded DT fans can't understand the brilliance of The Mars Volta. Noob.
