Hi Dogen, nice to meet you There are many albums that sound nice and come out as expected, however there are others that will grow on you and the more you listen and return to them they will continue to impress you and sound incredible every single time, become a timeless classic even, one of those is Magma. Really they are incredible in my opinion. Anyway a hug to you

Best version of Kohntarkosz I've heard, plus that Theusz Hamtaahk is pretty epic. |

Considering Magma is hands down the most financially draining band in my collection (some CD's easily exceeding $1/minute of playtime) I am pretty comfortable being a beneficiary of this pricing.

Get the Theusz Hamtahk DVD. Worth the price.
For albums the Rheims live 1976 disk has the heaviest version of MDK. I got lucky when I caught Amazon having the songs on the album for $0.89. Album was $4, currently $65 on CD. UPDATE: Kroikey! Its still there. Edited by Tapfret - January 23 2013 at 00:48 |

I personally recommend the three cd set trilogy, not to be confused with the theusz hamtaahk trilogy or kohntarkosz trilogys it contains Live/hhai, udu wudu, and Attahk, three of their most acessible albums at under $30 it
s bargain considering how much magma albums can go for.
Udu Wudu contains de futura, which is a big influence on 5 suns era guapo. This is probably no longer relevant, just my 2 cents. |

I bought my first Magma (MDK) just before Christmas. I've not listened to anything else since!

MDK and K.A. would both be good places to start.

Don't understand the love for MDK. The second half is boring and repetitive. Not a great recording either. At least Wurdah Itah has variety and melody with the chants and piano

I know three albums of Guapo : Great Sage, FiveSuns and Black Oni
Magma : I own all the 70s and some of their more recents albums. My suggestions are : - - maybe some parts in Some other Zeuhl bands and albums that could fit your tastes, the less jazzier more darker tension builders side of the Zeuhl music : Weidorje, Eskaton - 4Visions, Eider Stellaire - 1, Potemkin - Triton, Shub-Niggurath - Introduction, Jannick Top - Infernal Machina, Neom - Arkana Temporis, Xing Sa - Création de l'Univers, Setna - Cycle 1 ... some songs on Great Sage could sound similar to Bondage Fruits - I and II Have a good time discovering that great band !!! and Zeuhl music

MDK is my favorite, with Kohntarkosz close behind. Live is a great suggestion. Kohntarkosz would probably be your best bet for a studio album.

A much better attempt at chant, bass, drums and piano than MDK A funky one. Although a bit more Blasquiz would have made it even better My fave live Magma My very fave Magma album. Amazing sound and melodies

Yeah, he means this one
http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=3315 which is a good recommendation. Kohntarkohz is probably their best composition for a Guapo fan, and this is possibly the best version of the piece Edited by Triceratopsoil - December 26 2012 at 10:01 |
