For this one I must concede that Minnear loses to Wakemen. I love Minnear's work with GG, not only was the man a brilliant soloist but he also knew how to COMPLIMENT the music, rather than simply dominate it like Emerson would tend to, but Wakeman's piano work is far better than Minnear's... That might just be becuase Minnear didn't play so many piano pieces - GG compositions were always full band affairs - but I have to hand this one to Wakeman. |

Wakeman is the choice if classical piano and composition is what you look for. Emerson is your choice is you like your piano with a jazzy touch. Lunar |

Although all members of Henry Cow tickled the ivories at some point, the main keyboard playng was usually by Tim Hodgkinson (mainly organ) and John Greaves (Piano). Fred Frith is a massively talented multi instrumentalist, but it's as a guitarist that he's truly outstanding. |

Well, what I meant is that no-one seems to mention Fred Frith in general. I mean, you always see polls about the best guitarist and they don't mention him. I just thought that he should get some recognition or something. I s'pose it's because a lot of people don't like avant-garde or RIO or whatever you want to call it... ah what do I know?! |

You're right that it's not exactly popular, but there are some of us here who are into it - check Bald Friede and Bald Jean, Phillippe, Trouserpress and Sean Trane are all RIO/Avant Rock fans, check their posts (and mine) and you'll find Frith's name cropping up from time to time. |
