Finally someone recognised Golden Earrings's progressive properties. Most of what they recorded between 1968 and 1977 is prog.
Why aren't they in PA????

Please, no. Not the earing in PA. They are a great band though. And the period you mentioned is their best period, IMHO.

Good call, Andrew, in my opinion you have presented the crop of the cream of Dutch progrock. I only miss Taurus, a fine band but not top notch. Good to see Pythagoras: I have visited their keyboardplayer Rene De Haan at his home (5 minutes by bike from my home in The Hague) to have a look at his synthesizers and drummer Bob De Jong owned a record shop, I bought their my entire German progrock collection (Jane, Novalis, Grobschnitt, Ramses, Hoelderlin)!
My favorite Dutch Seventies progrock albums are Beyond Expression from Finch, Focus Live At The Raonbow, Song Of The Marching Children from Earth & Fire and Trace 1. FORZA HOLANDA!!

God, that's a hard choice.
On balance, I'm going for Solution, but I could have voted happily for Focus, Ekseption, Golden Earring (very close to, but not prog), Trace and Kayak as well.
Great nation, the Dutch!!

Out of the list it would be Supersister.

I'd say Earth & Fire. Not because they're the best Dutch band, but because they were my intoduction to prog rock. Their single ""Memories" and Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight" were my favorite songs when I was a kid. I had no idea what prog rock was at the time, but I knew I like the E&F sound so when I started buying albums I gravitated to progressive rock.

Focus have to be number one, and Golden Earing were brilliant too, but doubt if they wwere prog. However doesn't make them a bad band.

How many bands can claim that all of their stuff is prog?
I find Golden Earring to be as prog if nort proggier than Queen,ELO,Fairport,ect..
They could be in three categories:Proto prog,Art rock or Prog related at least.
Their prog era (1968-77) puts them right up there with Argent,Manfred Mann's E.B.,Uriah Heep,Deep Purple,Jethro Tull,Spooky Tooth ect....
Worthy of inclusion IMHO.
