Peter Hammill (no explanation needed, really!)

Geddy Lee (love that screeching witch !)

Janos Kobor (from Omega - a hungarian band that gets too little attention IMO)

Ian Anderson - An absolute delight to listen to him sing

Daniel Gildenlow - The best hands down for me in the Modern prog era, as someone else said, he can make a grown man weep.

Gilmour and Waters - As a duo complementing and feeding off each other they are unmatched.

Non-prog

Ronnie James Dio - First time I heard Rainbow live on stage, my jaw hit the floor, nicknamed him "Old Leather Lungs"

Robert Plant - nuff said

Geoff Tate

Rob Halford - Honorable mention, who the hell has a range like that??  Incredible.

Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree) will always be (one of my) favourite vocalist(s). His voice is beautiful, touching, emotional and just everything that makes a prog vocalist perfect, even though he doesn't only make prog. In combination with the atmospheric music Porcupine Tree makes, this results in a wonderful piece of music.

Further favorites:

  • Jon Anderson
  • Roger Waters
  • Daniel Gildenlow
  • Roine Stolt
  • Neal Morse
  • Tony Kakko (not prog though)

My avatar is the vocalist of glam rock/brit pop band Suede (aka the London Suede in USA). They were once good before the guitarist left the band. Albums to hear: self titled debut and 'Dog Man Star.'
