My computer desk is worse than that!
I'll try and take some photos of it soon, before I get my CD racks.

That sounds like my collection, Zac, only mine contains less!
I did once have some kind of Alphabetical thing going on, but it got replaced by a Genre-specific and relational scheme, which was also alphabetical and then I took CDs out, didn't put them back... bought more... it's become a mess!
I have a stack of 50 Cds right next to me as I speak. Not in a rack, but just stacked up, they're wobbling and I fear they more fall...

Picture this: a CD rack that holds about 200-225 CDs that is full that used to be in alphabetical and chronological order ( I got a bit lazy...)+several stacks of CDs (totalling about 100 or so)+two containers full of records in no specific order (maybe 125-150, I'm not sure...)

Wow, some of these are stuningly drool-worthy. You put mine to shame.

My mother is going to buy me two CD racks soon as a late birthday present, so most of, if not all my collection, should fit into them! I'll then take photos.

Truly nice, Joren. a term such as "literate" should be used in music and you should get an attribute by it.

I used to store mine alphabetically, until I found out excavating Hawkwind cds on a bookshelf to get to Motorhead cds behind it was incredibly tiresome. So now they are arranged in two groups-the ones on the bookshelf are the "pry these out of my cold dead fingers" collection and the ones in the entertainment center are the "normal" collection.

Thanks. Is it true that I see a lot of Black Sabbath remasters in your collection?

I forgot the (slightly tongue-in-cheek) pride of my music-related collection:

Here's my collection:First part (A-L): Note the Judas Priest and King Crimson collections... and the empty pack of Camel on top of the Camel CD's . (I'm not a smoker though.) The box in the top left corner contains 168 (!) jazz CD's (in cases of four), recorded from 1899 til 1955. If I remember correctly, I paid only 128 euro for that. ...And there's the Tool poster of course. Second part (L-Z & V.A.): Experts will recognize the Magma (top left) and Zappa (lowest two shelfs) collections. In addition, here's my vinyl collection (I still have to listen to a lot of lp's I got from a neighbor - second pic ) and some CD's on the loose: PA on the pc: that's Sleeper's signature! My room is a bit of a mess at the moment, but the CD collection is always very tidy. Only a few CD's are seperated from the rest (for listening purpose); the rest is in alphabetical order. I originally kept 'classical' CD's (contemporary composers as well) seperate from the pop/rock/jazz ones, but I just started putting them all in alphabetical order. Nice to see Beethoven next to the Beatles! Oops! I almost forgot, the major part of my music books collection (most of them for my education):
In case you were wondering: I haven't read them all... yet.
