What are good places to buy prog CDs of varying degrees of obscurity (besides Amazon)? I remember people talking about this before, but I could find it on the search (my searching skills aren't too good and this search doesn't always work very well), so my apologies for the repeatedness of this topic.
While on this general topic, why are Stormy Six CDs around $22? I know they're import, but Doug Larson and Wayside also carry other imports that are much cheaper.

Although they don't usually stock rarer prog, keep an eye on the contents of your local chain stores occasionally you can find some rarer and more obscure albums in them.

I'd second that recommendation, a great site where I have discovered a lot of good music, prog and otherwise.
It's also fun browsing / searching the 160,000+ CDs they have catalogued. The search function is very useful because the bands get to write a description of their CD and the text of these is searchable, so if you want to find bands who think they sound like Zappa, or who'd describe their music as 'esoteric', or whatever, you can search for that. The browse facility is good because you can narrow by both geographical location and genre, so if you want to look for e.g. Polish jazz outfits or prog from Greece, you can do this...

Finally, most bands and specialist record labels (e.g. Musea, Cuneiform, Skingraft, Life Is Abuse) will have direct sales from their own web sites. It's never bad to go to the source.

Well, there's GEMM:
You can get just about anything there via one or more of the sellers. I've found some obscure Prog and non-Prog albums using that site.
EDIT: If you don't mind shopping outside the USA, I can recommend BTF in Italy (they ship to the US and will quote in US$ if you select that option):
I use them quite a bit, and they have a good range of CDs, DVDs and LPs, both Prog and non-Prog. As you'd expect, they sell a wide range of Italian Prog, but they also stock plenty of non-Italian stuff too.

I'll second (and third and fourth) the vote for Big Balloon. Not only are his prices less than Amazon, but you get your order much faster. I generally get my order no more than three days after I place it, usually two. The one time I had a question about my order, I heard personally from the owner.
Can't beat service like that!

Syn-phonic is almso an excellent address
Greg gives you excellent counselling (the short descrpition are usually spot on), his catalogue is wide and varied, he's quite quck service (except around the festival period) and one of the cheapest around. I do 90% of my web shopping thru him. Sometimes the discs are at my place, that I haven't sent the money yet. But I guess you gotta be a good customer.
