The Year 2012

People claimed that year 2000 was gonna' be the end of the world blah blah. They were all wrong, It will take loooooooooooong time before something really bad happends here, IMO. I can be wrong though, you never know, but still..

Nothing bad will happen.

Is that the year the asteroid is supposed to hit? Maybe that was later, and what about that Aztec God  Quetzocatal (however you'd spell that) that will come and it'll be the end of the world?

Actually, I'm sure the world will end whenever Socrates predicted it will. Legend has it that back in the 1200's he predicted WWII, The building of nuclear wepaons, communism, and to some extent terrorism and even 9/11. I'm sure he said something about the world ending

I wonder how many full-grown adults there are in the world who are four feet tall or under...

All I've heard is that the Maya calendar ends on December 23, 2012, so supposedly that's when the world will end.  The Mayans were interesting but I think this is a lot of silliness and makes no more sense than the 2000 predictions, as Bj-1 pointed out.

The apocalypse will happen at anytime, only God knows when. I think that the Mayans made a theory of the end of the world, and it was a load of crap. Humans do not know when the world will end! Geez, there's been so many predictions of the end of the world, and all of thenm have been wrong! People predicted that it would end on June 6, 2006, because it was the 6-6-6 day. LOAD OF CRAP! People predicted that the world would end on September 11 because a few idiots crashed airplanes into the World Trade Centers. LOAD OF CRAP! Nostradamus predicted July, 1999 would be the end of the world because the year was one before 2000. LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!!!!!! People should quit trying to predict the end of the world and take it as it comes. Only God knows when the world will end, and THAT'S IT! All human predictions are wrong when it comes to the end of the world. Geez, man. People should learn to take a dang chillon the apocalypse. So, here's the only prediction of the apocalypse people should take: it will happen suddenly whenever it does. It could be anytime. Also, I've heard of stuff about people actually planning the apocalypse. Now, that's even more stupid than predicting it, because they want to end the world right at that moment with mass suicide bombs! What idiots! Also, something else. Why is American Idol and celebrity crap getting more coverage than religious stuff and the end of the world? Because people are ignorant! Back to the apocalypse, yuo know how some people can't keep thoughts to their self, right? Well, in celebrity coverage and predictions of the apocalypse, THEY SHOULD JUST SHUT UP! End of story.

Nothing is going to happen in 2012. It'll be just another year. The world will end in 5 or so billions of years if we don't end it sooner.

although you're insane I agree that people should neither be worried about arbitrarily ominous dates OR consider themselves to be qualified to have an opinion on anything and everything.

the world's going to end when our sun goes nova. now, if some insignificant bipedal species is wiped off the planet by some freak disaster long before then, it's hardly the same situation is it? ;)

Depends on who you ask. The world did not end in the year 666, neither it has in 999, 1999, 2000 or any other year to come. Well, maybe it will end some day, but not because of a number.
