Yep....nothing about the music AT ALL.
And the end is UNCALLED FOR!!!!!!!!!!
For bumbling idiots, geeks, pimply teenagers unable to get within 200 yards of the ugliest chicks in school unless he used this album’s “tricks” to get close to her. Max, can we reinstall that Zero Stars rating back. Just for the time for you to expel this junk from your site. If you own this crap, please surrender yourself to the closest mental institution, before you you will become beyond recuperation. An abject piece of crap. Review by Kid.A (Thomas)
Posted 7:25:59 PM EST, 4/13/2007 ![]() I see this album getting the praise everywhere, and I decided some time ago to give it a good chance. The first that strikes me is that terrible vocal work from James LaBrie. I cant belive that DT havent sacked him from the band from the get go. When I listen to DT I dont get the feeling im listening to people that love music, I feel im listening to people that love to show off their skills. Im sorry, but there just aint no soul in this crap. If feels like they first write the solos of every member, and then write the melody that gets to the solo. Boring. Dont buy this album. Its just bad and corny Where's the MUSICAL part of this review? Just senseless bashing (hey, even people that dislike DT won't say they play hair-metal).... And he says he feels DT don't love music... Well, maybe he feels that way, but there are better ways to say it. there are ways to give 1-star reviews with some respect for bands and people that like them.
EDIT: Sorry, didn't see that The Miracle already reported this... ![]() Edited by The T - April 13 2007 at 23:52 |

It's Ok. I understand your points, Geck0.
However I (and probably Bob) still think how to deal with reviews done before 2005. Unless they are totally abusive (and in this case they must be deleted), they shall receive a kind of 'historical' treatment or something like that. Just thinking...

I'm listening to the album a bit later, so I was curious about the reviews.
It says in the album information that Jenkins isn't on the album and another review says it was recorded live in Paris in 1972. It's not the rating I'm concerned about, but it's the fact that the rating is based on untruths. If he knew Elton Dean was on it, he may still rate it badly, but he may just have a problem with Jenkins' input on later albums. I will give the album a listen later. I don't believe it to be in mono, either (it was released on Cuneiform for starters). |

i have never heard music from that band, and yet I found the review somewhat useful.... at least it says something about production and there's thousand reviews out therevthat need to go first

Not only that, it doesn't say anything that demonstrates us he actually heard the record! Just a little imagination and you can write reviews for un-released albums without having even listened to them (as I proved with a DT review in this lounge a while ago).

Not exactly much wrong with this, but a few things to note: Karl Jenkins was not on this record, so therefore his rating is most likely incorrect, because he believes he is. Also it is known when it was recorded, he should have done his research beforehand. Plus the review is a bit short and doesn't say much. Any ideas? Edited by Geck0 - April 09 2007 at 13:58 |

The point iis not the rating T, you can give 10 stars if this is allowed, the problem is that it sounded contradictory, Knowing Micky has wrote it and despite my strong differemnces with him in some issues, I know he tried to make clear he doesn't like the album but he believes it deserves 5 stars.
It's his perspective and in his case I know he has listened the album, but wiythout that information it soubnded like a guy describing the album as an "F"and rating it with an "A+"

This is so ridiculous.... I'm the DT fanboy here, and, with the exception of the "acne" bit, I'm the only one that hasn't said anything against the review!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What would you say if I had given Kayo Dot (sorry, it's my best possible example) 5 stars just because the Collaborators picked it as album of the year, but explained that to me it was worthy of one? Oh, my review would've gotten the axe treatment so swiftly, nobody would've even complained...

I just noticed that the DT review was written by Micky.
Believe me, I never saw the name of the author, I KNOW HOW MICKY THINKS IN THS ASPECT, HE CAN HONESTLY RATE AN ALBUM HE DISLIKES.
Normally contradictory reviews are written by lurkers or fanboys, so I never check the name of a review reported.
I thought it was a guy trying to create confusion, I may have my differences with the hahahaha guy, but I know his reviews are honest.
TO CAESAR WHAT BELONGS TO CAESAR.

This is a possibility for me. Butit hasn't happened yet.
Imagine an album that you hate Dark Side Of The Moon or LTIA or Foxtrot, but you know it is a cornerstone of an album in prog, something that almost anyone and everyone will like, but for some odd reason you don't. I can recommend albums I don't like to someone if I happen to have an info that someone is obviously unaware of.
I gave some recommendations of album I didn't like to a technofan because he wanted to discover the very early roots of his fave style. Among which were some of the least liked by me back then (Faust Tapes)

I don't really have a problem with rating it by historical value, but copy-paste reviewing is slightly lame.

as promised.. my final thoughts on this review... you all I hope have better things to worry about... Prog-metal fans are under NO such illusion as to my open-mindedness.... nor have I given them any reason to.... As I stated in a PM to the reviews admin.... I was hard.. but fair... to give it one star based on what I .. a confirmed prog-metal hater would not be fair. I just don't get what it is about.. that doesn't take away from the perceived 'greatness' of the album for fans of the genre that should sum it up.... |
