There's a new band in the horizon, Lent0.  They released an album with Ufomammut earlier this year and now they've released their debut album, "Earthen", just recently. Still trying to digest it. So far the atmospheric songs aren't as captivating as the ones from Rosetta. Will keep you informed as time passes by.

P.S.
Good work on the Tides addition. They where one of my first Post-Metal bands! I'll need to listen to them again.

I have the new Lent0 album, and I am still trying to digest it myself.

I also forgot to mention that I got the Latitudes album in the mail yesterday.  Clap

It starts out kinda weak, IMO... it's more like instrumental doom than progressive/post metal, but the lackluster beginning is more than made up for by the final track.

#shels is quickly becoming one of my favirote post metal bands, they're probably the most influenced by classic prog in the entire post metal genre, and the clean vocals sound EXACTLY like Phil Collins! Conifer is not far behind them.

Is that supposed to be a good thing?Confused

bah!  this thread is depressing me!  I have so many bands I have to check out, and no time to do it with.

Can we take a break from this thread for a while so I can catch up? LOL

I know how you feel, too many CD's to buy, not enouht time/money.LOL

Schiz, yes I was reffering to Sigur Ros- () which is probably going to be a little too slow for me, though perversley I think I might like GY!BE.

Speaking of which, is the track Moya (the sample on their PA page) a good indicator for what they are like?

if it means anything, from what I've seen Kayo Dot and Godspeed You! Black Emperor have a bit of a fanbase overlap

I personally prefer GY!BE....and as chamberry said, yes, Moya is very representative. My only disagreement is that I prefer Yanqui U.X.O., and Lift Your Skinny Fists is probably my least favorite for some reason....then again, people have opinions that aren't always the same Tongue either is really a good starting point

Well, I'm definitely a Kayo Dot fan (check the top right corner of my avatarWink) and I loved Moya so I think I'll be checking out Lift....

Have you guys heard of the band Manatees? They've released one album and one EP.
Their Post-Metal is very psychedelic, but still punchy and emotional like most bands on the genre. They've went even further off with their EP which is the strangest Post-Metal (if you can call it that) album I've heard. They rarely even use the guitar on the EP!

Still a great band. Their debut is highly recommended. Check out their samples:  http://www.myspace.com/manateetheband

I love Manatees, who are another band approved for inclusion by the PMT.Big%20smile

That I'm happy! Tongue

If this band hasn't been recommended yet, I'd recommend Daturah. Ambient Post-Rock.

Clap
Great band! The music's slow, but they make some great climaxes after the hypnotize you with their atmospherics.

You need to voice out your opinions more. I didn't knew you where a fan of post-rock.

Perhaps I was! Wink
