There's still a bar that pops up at the top of the browser to tell me what a great job it did blocking it, which is very distracting and I have to close that anyway. And when I open a new tab, it doesn't let me click on it right away because it's sucking up to me again.

Er. I mean, I'm patient.

For those using Safari, there is something called Good Vibrations. It goes right into the style sheet in your preferences. Blocks everything.

My least favorite is the one that loudly congratulates me for winning two free ipod nanos every time I refresh the page.  Anothe rtime I was trying to relax listening to a very excellent piece I'd never heard before on the internet prog radio station called Aural Moon and an ad on PA kept making a noise.  Took me damn near an hour to figure out where it was coming from and I missed the whole song due to the distraction.  It was LAME!

hahahhah... you obviously haven't ben around long enough if yoiu didn't know where it was coming from.  The ipods and nanos and whatever that crap was are as much a part of PA's folklore now as  blue font.. hahhahha's.. and the damned Velvet Room.

Seriously though  I feel your pain brother.... I no longer bother listening to music on the computer and posting on PA's. The damn volume stays off...

HAHA, yeah, it was a while back, before I even joined the forums.  I honestly wouldn't mind the visual ads if it weren't for the obnoxious sounds and verbal ads.  I can understand trying to make a little cash to pay for the site and whatnot.  Unfortunately, being 16 and working part-time for minimum wage at Party City doesn't leave much money for cds, so my computer is my only option for listening to music.  I buy cds whenever I can, though, if only to support the artists.

Thanks for all the hard work M@x and all your fellow developers/founders.  All minor annoyances with ads aside, I am extremely happy with the site and the developments I have seen in the short time I have been here.

That being said, let me throw my hat in as being one who would gladly make a financial contribution as an advertisement buyout (particularly the noisemaking ones). I have seen other sites do it (can't think of one right off hand).  I am sure it isn't an easy implementation and won't hold my breath for it, just thought I would make the pledge to fork out some dough if that was an alternative.

The interstitial HP ads are way more annoying, as are the YOU HAVE WON A FREE IPOD! Also, those blue inforum ads (i.e. I really love The Flower Kings! and Flower is a link that goes to Googling for florists or something) have been irritating me a lot lately as well.

Greatly appreciated, that should help quite a bit.  I actually din't realize they were coming from thsi site.  I thought my comp had contracted an adware virus because I normally use mozilla and the ads were coming up in explorer.

Thanks Max! Smile

The situation seems to have improved, but as Vibe said, the Monster.ca one (the worst of all) still appears very frequently. Ermm

Chinese women seek men for love and marriage. Join today for free.

Is this one of the insulting ones? I don't get it...
The google Ads always brighten my day...especially the one that says "Respiratory Therapy Prog". I want some!

Well, I think that one could be seen as demeaning, at least, but it was an invitation to "pimp your profile" that originally raised my ire.
(See my first post.)

The main issue, though, is pop ups that cover the screen, and take time to get rid of. The main offender in that regard (Monster.ca) is still here.Thumbs%20Down

LOL Ha! For that charming, oh-so-romantic little exercise in duplicity and Internet scamming, read: "Desperate Chinese women and the evil snakehead gangs who prey upon them seek lonely, gullible Western suckers for hasty marriage, emigration to a free country, and expensive divorce."

Men significantly outnumber women in good ol' one-child-only, girl-baby-aborting China -- as if Chinese women can't find husbands there! Stern%20Smile
