If Prog-Related counts (hopefully it does), I remember that Lars von Trier's wonderful yet disturbing Breaking the Waves features Deep Purple's "Child in Time", as well as other Seventies classics (Bowie comes to mind as well).

I had totally forgotten, and unless I missed it this hasn't been mentioned yet, Mike Oldfield did the soundtrack to The Killing Fields.

it was released on DVD last year! check http://www.aviator-entertainment.com
they have a few krautrock-titles in their catalogue. |
the movie is definitely worth watching too. it features the top of the crop of German actors, and I have to say that Guru Guru, especially Mani Neumeier, hold up their own against them. of course they more or less only had top play themselves, but Neumeier has a few scenes where he goes beyond that

The Departed has a fairly decent cover version of Comfortably Numb in it.

Pink Floyd's More and Ocscured by Clouds were soundtrack albums, but I haven't watched either of the films.

I love Those Films! As for Children of men, it did have King Crimson in it and the Pink Floyd pig, but I thought it wasn't a very good film. 28 Days later s good and has East Hastings by GY!BE playing most the way through! Oh and Comfortably numb was in an episode of the Sopranos once lol. In a clockwork orange he was going to use Atom Heart Mother, but they didnt let him.

I believe Ulver made the soundtrack to the norwegian movie "Svidd Neger"(translated: "burnt negro").
I like that movie, eventhough it has a quite odd plot.

If memory serves, the Julee Cruise scene occurred out front in the bar and the pink room was a back room to the bar where everyone got wild and the chicks took off their shirts.

I believe the song you're referring to is called the Pink Room. I'll have to check my soundtrack CD when I get home, but I think it's not a real band but a Lynch/Badalamenti concotion.

You are probably right - Though Gang was a Lynch/Badalamenti made-up band, but I thought the bar scene had Julee Cruise standing on stage singing, isn't the Pink Room a different scene?

I believe the song you're referring to is called the Pink Room. (you are talking about the song with the bowed bass, heavy guitars, and a hard driving drum beat?) If so it's only a little over four minutes on the soundtrack, maybe it just seemed that long. I'll have to check my soundtrack CD when I get home, but I think it's not a real band but a Lynch/Badalamenti concoction.

I haven't watched the film in years, but if it features a female singer then it may be Julee Cruise, if it were a male then it might be The Thought Gang... As far as I know all music and lyrics were written by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti. |
thanks a lot; I will check it out
