1. Prog Folk (probably the Pentangle)
2. Post Rock/Math Rock (Godspeed You! Black Emperor)
3. Symphonic Prog (Yes)
4. Everything else (King Crimson)
5. toast

I am. Love The Pentangle. The not so high placing on my list has more to do with quantity than quality. Progfolk, like Zeuhl is not a very big genre. But I really love, Roy Harper, Pearls Before Swine, The Pentangle, Spirogyra, Conventum, Woven Hand, Ragnarok, Ptarmigan, Jan Dukes Degrey, Comus, Hoelderlin mm... Check out Extradition (you can stream the full album). A band I suggested for adding once (but nothing happened). Stunning album. |

You'll only get a top 10 from me, since I'm not very familiar with a lot of the remaining subs. Wouldn't be fair to list them. And I'll exclude Proto-Prog and Prog Related as well, just so you know. Call me grumpy, but I'll add today's favourite ALBUM as a bonus

1, Tech/Extreme Prog Metal.
2. Prog Metal. 3. Heavy Prog 4. Experimental/Post-Metal 5. Post/Math Rock 6. RIO/Avant-Prog 7. Prog Related. 8. Canterbury Scene 9. Crossover Prog. 10. Symphonic Prog. 11. Eclectic 12. Zeuhl. 13. Psychedelic/Space 14. Jazz-rock/Fusion 15. Proto-Prog 16. Krautrock 17. Progressive Electronic 18. Italian Symphonic Prog 19. Prog Folk 20. Neo Progressive 21. Indo-Prog/Raga Rock These kinda lists change all the time with me though. Some days I barely listen to say, Prog Metal, but might spend all day listening to Heavy Prog instead or whatever, so don't take this list as definitive for me, it's just how I felt today. The recommendation must have gotten lost somewhere. Prog Folk doesn't have the most organized team here - those guys are totally irresponsible Anyway, I'm checking out the album now - sounds promising enough; I'll add it to the consideration list and see what some of the other collabs think. Thanks! |
