the correct answer I believe is Masami Akita aka Merzbow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbow_discography

Well, Klaus Schulze must have well over fifty. Is it fair to count VDGG along with Hammill solo albums? If we do so we would be close to that amount. All of his albums are good, something that can´t be said about other prolific album makers.

here's thinking outside of the box, maybe its an orchestra, anyone know how many albums the London Symphony Orchestra has put out?  shot in the dark but it could be a lot, can't find a discography anywhere

50-60 years worth when take into account being a sidesman, for instance with Dizzie Gillespie in the 40's.

About John Lee Hooker and Dizzie Gillepsie, are we talking about ALBUMS or RECORDS? Remember all the 78rpm and 45rpm some artistes can release. Same thing about Merzbow: some of his records are some singles.
Moreover, we're also talking about artists recording under their name, right? Because if we're also talking about participations of guest-artists, Fred Frith must be on the list. I think Bill Laswell has a big discography, thanks to the many studio sessions he had been involved in.

I wonder if they're not outstanded by the Damned, Motorhead and Deep Purple on this chapter.
