What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?

Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.
I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the 
   deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American 
citizens that desperately needed work.
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs 
for returning veterans.
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million
Mexican Nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback'. It was 
done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs.
It took 2 Years, but they deported them!
Now...if they could deport the illegal's back then - they could sure do it today?

I can't believe we let this thread go dormant for two weeks.  What the hell's the matter with us?

As somebody who has been waiting seven months to get a Green Card (which I haven't yet got -delays in card production, after the $1,010 we shelled out), without being able to work or leave the country, I can imagine how much fun it must be to be illegal. And anyway, I am a foreigner as much as those illegals, in spite of my Green Card, so I suppose I will be stealing something from you US citizen if I ever get a job.

So Newt Gingrich has decided that Obama has failed. Good stuff.

Well, if anyone should be experts on failure, it's Newt & Rush.  Their party has taken failure to new heights in the past 8 years.

I must admit, gotta give Bush mad props. He went from, at one point, the most popular President ever to the LEAST popular ever. It takes skill to mess up that badly!

It was never true popularity.  It was sympathy, and the country pulling together after 9/11. True, but still you should be able to hold onto some of it. I mean, the Dems would've eventually turned of course but to go all the way down to 26% or whatever it was.....Even alot of my conservative friends hated him near the end (for a variety of reasons). Either he wasn't conservative enough, wasn't fiscally responsible, he didn't band gay marriage like he implied, or they just got fed up with Iraq.

The dirty little secret may be that die hard conservatives are only about 26% of the population.  Also the realization of some that may have considered themselves to be conservatives coming to the realization that those self proclaimed conservatives that have the wealth and power, the true elites, are screwing them over.

Speaking of that, what do y'all think of gitmo closing? I love how everyone was on board until, "wait what do you mean they'll be kept here in the US?" Now even the Dems are yelling not in my backyard!

Oh yeah, Gitmo is hilarious. It's easy to yell at Bush, but it's much harder to come up with an actual plan. Whoops! I can't decide whether Obama maintaining many of Bush's policies is an indictment of Obama or a vindication of Bush.
