just read the thread "Arrogant Proggie" and realized that most prog songs aren't catchy enough for MTV. That is, until we list some. The only rule here is that you are limited to 2 tracks per band. (in order to make the lists more diverse)

Opeth "Godhead's Lament"

Opeth "Face Of Melinda"

Porcupine Tree "Hyptonize"

Porcupine Tree "Way Out Of Here"

Ayreon "Dawn Of A Million Souls"

Echolyn and The Decemberists produce the catchiest songs for me.

Okay, so I actually read the original post:

"Arc of Descent" and "Too Late for Everything" by Echolyn, and "Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect" and "Yankee Bayonet" by The Decemberists.

Quite a few 80s Crimson tracks spring to mind, two of which are "Three of A Perfect Pair" and "Frame By Frame".

Queensryche's "Eyes of a Stranger" (though they did get popular from it)

Lots of Porcupine Tree as well ("Lazarus" and "Trains" among them).

Genesis even had catchy tunes when they were still prog ("Counting out Time", "Entangled")

Mr. Bungle's "Retrovertigo" always sticks in my mind.

Pink Floyd's "Money" is a no-brainer.

(heads for the Crossover and Eclectic aisles, stepping carefully to avoid the obvious Supertramp and ELO records....)

Manfred Mann's Earth Band:  "Don't Kill it Carol" and "Demolition Man"

Kerry Livgren: "How Can You Live"

Steve Walsh: "You Think You Got It Made"

Nanook of the North:  "Forget it Jenny, Love is just a Privilege for the Rich"

Gypsy: "Gypsy Queen" and "Man of Reason"

Utopia: "Set me Free" and "Caravan"

Home:  "The Sun's Revenge"

and a few other not-so-obvious ones...

After Crying: "Confess Your Beauty"

Wishbone Ash: "Almighty Blues"

Ramases:  "Life Child"

Baby Whale:  "Things are not Free"

Congreso:  "Quenita-violín"

Mellow Candle:  "Buy or Beware"

"Peace is the only battle worth waging."

"No Me No You" and "Black Light Machine" by Frost* are the first that come to mind.

"Trains" and "Shesmovedon" by Porcupine Tree also jump in there quickly.

"Seen All Good People" obviously a hit but a great example as well.

"The Colors Changed" Sylvan

"Roses" RPWL

"Misunderstood" by Dream Theater (though you'd have to remove the last couple of minutes)

The first five minutes of "I am the Sun, (Part 2)" and "Life Will Kill You" by The Flower Kings

and just about anything off of "The Tall Ships" by It Bites, though to narrow it down, I'll go with "Lights" and "Oh My God"

I could keep going, maybe in further posts.

I'll be damned if almost all the songs off of Crack the Skye aren't some of the catchiest songs ever. I've had all of them stuck in my head all day sometimes with the exception of "Ghost of Karelia".
