Most non proggers I know are either bored or irritated by most things I play them. Floyd come off lightly in that regard, and actually seem to appeal to most non proggers I know. Thats because most of their music is easy to digest, and doesn't require tem to concentrate on whats going on.

Generally, the worst reactions have been evoked by the following, for the reasons given:

Yes (Gay vocals and songs too long)
Genesis (Phil Collins)
Gentle Giant (comedy rock without the humour)
Jethro Tull (Frankly ridiculous and very 'un-cool')
King Crimson (pointless noise; induces headaches and nausea)
Moody Blues (my mum likes them)

Some people just dont get it...

How about Nosound? Great band but they bore me to tears! I can only listen to them before bed.

A better question would be: How many bands are NOT likely to bore non-progheads?

Anything over 2 and half minutes long without a repeatable drum beat and lyrics you have to think about.

In my experience, this is just as accurate for most non progheads.

As specific examples, certain material from Soft Machine (specifically, Third through at least Fifth) seems as if it'd bore most non progheads, probably Ash Ra Tempel, and...Yatha Sidra, maybe.

Well, one of my exs said that ''Animals'' put her to sleep, yet she adores ''The Wall''. This makes sense how?

Aside from that, though, I've never heard of Pink Floyd 'boring' anybody. But oh well.

Erm . . . my list.

1. Genesis (They bore me to tears sometimes, honestly)
2. Anglagard
3. Ayreon
