From time to time I use CTRL-A and CTRL-C, so that the content of the review at least is being saved for a short moment of time. Still, it's best to CTRL-V it somewhere else, like in a Word document, because when you cut and paste within the review, it's of no use anymore.

BTW, sometimes the site doesn't catch a review I sent, but when I go back immediately to the last screen (BACKSPACE or the little blue leftbound arrow in the top right corner) I do see my review back. It happened to me several times. But we all should save what we wrote after 10 minutes or so. But often we tend to forget.

I took a chance this morning on another review and it worked. A miracle. I forgot about the method I devised because I  haven`t had  the time to write many lately. But it`s a pity I lost yesterday`s because it was for a Steve Smith album that had never been reviewed. I was too excited and on a roll to remember my "method".

Just write the first sentence and then submit it. If it shows up in your own personal reviews section then it will go through. Just continue writing the review as if you were editing. Et viola !

The downside to that method is that your review will never show up on the front page.

That can be advantage for some. Consider that someone is not skilled enough to write good reviews. So when it won't appear on front page, it will be harder to locate his review.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Actually I compose all my reviews in MeSs Word and have no problems transferring over to window used to submit to this site.  The only thing oddball that I have to do is use the enter key to get the paragraphs to separate.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I'm one of few people who enjoy writing (and taking risks) in PA writing space. It just helps me to concentrate my thoughts.

Same here. Mine are spontaneous and most of the time I write them with the album playing and the cover in front of me just like the most recent one that managed to make it through. I,m so pissed that the Steve Smith review didn't go through because I think I hit te nailon the head with that on that has been swallowed up by the PA Bermuda Triangle. I don't remember this problem back in 2004 when the site was young.

As for being on the front page the reviews get bumped down so fast that I find they only stay there at the most for a few hours.

Indeed, this problem is mostly simply. When site was young, not so many people were visiting these pages. Therefore, not so big bandwidth demands on server. But now, it's worse. People keeps accessing PA and therefore, it happens from time to time that when you hit "POST THE REVIEW" button, you get "ERROR, PAGE CANNOT BE LOADED" message. You try to hit "BACK" button, but even you can return to previous page (album page), your words are gone. This is because of how HTML works (pretty stupidly)

SOLUTIONS

1)use browser that saves text you write on page (in your case this means change of browser)

2)write reviews in text processor, I use Open Office that saves document every 1 minute for normal texts

3)do this trick with CTRL+A, CTRL+C (and then final blow with CTRL+V)

4)another trick, I'll show you

Writing review, in happy mood, thinking about if it's all and then hitting SEND button

ERROR LOADING PAGE HORRIBLE (STUPID) MESSAGE

then I use in Opera Javascript trick

and magic trick shows that my contribution to PA site is after all, zero valuable :-D

me too, I also tend to submit it and then immediately read it and then edit any typos/syntax errors.  I find it easier tio edit when I see it posted than looking in the editor.  So if you are online and see one of my reviews come over, and you look a few minutes later, it will be a little different!

Yep John, this review is very strange. I'm not able to tell what's wrong, but it seems so bad.

But there's progression you see ? First he said 30 years, then 34. He's evolving ;-)

Not to be too ornery or anything, but words like "recommended," "masterpiece," "best of the year," and "progressive music" especially... very common things said in reviews. I'm not saying this guy isn't being a manipulative idiot, as that isn't up to me to decide.

Bah this whole Phideaux thing. This secret campaign that may or may not be running can really ruin rating it well for those of us who genuinely enjoy the album and want to give it a fair rating. Maybe it just bugs me that I've been writing positive reviews for plenty of this guy's discs, but if I'd tweaked my word usage a bit, I could be getting free stuff! Confused

^ ha ha, Number 7 gets plenty of sincere heartfelt positive reviews, and all of those get to stay and we welcome more. This latest one wouldn't be one of those though.
