More sub-genres you say? I'm going to push for Glacial Metal to be included as a new sub-genre.
Generally speaking, Glacial Metal owes much to Drone Metal and Dark
Ambient, with the exception that it frequently uses extremely slow
tempos, that as the name suggests, evolve slower than a melting
glacier. Lyrical themes often revolve around global warming and other
nature based concepts. It has small underground scenes in Scandinavia,
Canada, South America, New Zealand and in cold climates generally.
