Just my way of having fun with the youngsters and their love of Meshuggah.  In the original Shred Room, I banned Meshuggah from being played on the Shred Room CD player.

I'm not even a metal fan, it's mostly the vocals that get to me.

Believe it or not I try really hard not to bash bands.  I make an exception for Meshuggah, but I try to do it with good humor about it.  I borrowed Catch Thirty-Three from the library.  I was quite shocked to find it there.  At any rate, it is one of the few albums that I could not listen to all the way through.  I just grew tired of the senseless noise before it was over.  I've not really heard anything else from them aside from 1 song, so I can't truly judge them, but that one listening experience scarred me for life.  If I were forced to listen to that album again I would be curled up in a ball in the corner of the room rocking back and forth crying "please, please don't make me listen to that again". 

^ I agree, you can listen to  at least several of them on there.

That's one of the best avant-garde metal albums I've ever heard.

Meshuggah is the kind of band that definitely isn't for everyone. I actually know several people who enjoy metal but can't stand Meshuggah because they're "too avant-garde". I've been listening to and enjoying metal for darn close to 30 years now.  At least much of it was known as metal in the day.  I think a lot of it has been re-labeled as hard rock given that metal has gotten louder, faster, and eviler over the years.

Understandable. You grew up in the days when metal was ruled by the likes of Ozzy, Sabbath, and Iron Maiden (all damn fine bands I might add). But extreme metal changed it a lot in the 80s. And again later on in the 90s.

Yep.  Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, even some Motorhead songs.  Used to love Ace of Spades.  Bands like Exodus and Slayer had a couple of decent albums as well, although I never really got into either of those bands. 

First concert that I ever attended was The Monsters of Rock, which was Van Halen, Metallica, Scorpions, Dokken, and Kingdom Come.  Second concert was David Lee Roth with Poison opening.
