Topic: Your Worst Misheard Lyrics! Posted: July 30 2010 at 13:45 |
We've all at some point misinterpreted what a vocalist is singing. Especially in prog this is an easy thing to do, so what are some of your worst misheard lyrics?
Mine is in supper's ready on the line "Shimmering Silver Head Of Wisdom Looking At Me" for a long time i was convinced Gabriel said "Tiramisu ahead of wisdom looking at me" (with the title supper's ready i guess it seemed appropriate!)

Toto -Africa ''There's nothing that a million men or more could ever do'' I always heard as 'there's nothing that a million men on Mars could ever do''
I like my version!

In Roger Water's What God Wants Part 1 I thought he said "God wants greed, God wants fa****s," when indeed he said a very exaggerated "God wants good, God wants bad."

In Games Without Frontiers, I thought the female voice was saying, "She's so Funk-u-ler" instead of "jeux sans Fron-ti-ers"

Years and years ago when I first heard that song without knowing what it was I thought it was, "She said f**k-you-all."

Just remembered one, though it's not really "the worst":
In Hazards of Love Pt 4. where they sing 'these rushing waves', I always thought they said 'these Russian ways' until today, lol.

Please excuse this incoming burst of raunch, people. It took three entire listens to "Kid A" before I knew the correct lyrics to a single verse, believe it or not.
"Everything In It's Right Place"
"Yesterday, I woke up sucking on my mom"
"Yesterday, I woke up sucking a lemon"
And I always thought Games Without Frontiers was "She's so funky, yeah". I assume Ms. Bush never took a remedial French class.

It's funny because it makes you think Ian Curtis was gay.

For some unfathomable reason I always used to sing... "Who was broken by trained personnel" from Dogs by Pink Floyd, as:
"He was taken by train to Seville".
