I found out last night that a cousin of mine was murdered by her husband.  She was a lovely kid, 20-something years old and full of blonde Southern sass.  I'd been out of touch for years, but remember her from when we were younger.

I can't speak much more.  You know my feelings from the times I have raged about violence and crime here, how I'm not interested in the background and excuses of the violent.  Obviously this only brings it home so much more and on a very personal level.  But I don't want to debate crime/punishment here please, save it for the issue threads on the same topic, please.

I just want a few people to remember another promising life lost, to say a prayer if that is what you do.
I'd rather not give her name because it's not my place, being outside of the immediate family.

Broken Heart

I too am sorry to hear this.  I know what it feels like to lose friends, co-workers, family.  But I've never known even one lost to unjust violence.  We can and do rationalize deaths (i.e., he/she was extremely il and it's best there is no more sufferingl, he/she had a good long life, etc.).  Maybe that's how we keep going.  But unnecessary violence, I don't know.  My thoughts (for what they are worth) are with you and her family.

Thanks guys...her parents are so destroyed, I can't imagine how people go forward, nor can I fathom how to console them.

That's awful news. It's terrible that we live in a world where such a thing can happen and is not completely unfathomable. My thoughts go out to you and your family.
