Wow right now this poll seems very intense. Come on, Genesis!

Would you like some Bailey's?

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

^^^ "GENESIS!!!"?
I knew the day would come.
Let's see. I love more of Genesis's albums, yet some of Yes's songs just blow my mind (not meaning Genesis doesn't blow my mind ).
I guess I like Genesis more.... But I can't seem to click on the little Cast My Vote button. Hmm...
Oh, no! They're tied!

Voting for Yes, not just because I prefer their music, but because they were the first introduction to prog I ever had.
I remember sitting in my Dad's car during the long trips down the freeway to get to my aunt's house in New Jersey. We were listening to these seemingly endless, strangely ambitious compositions that sounded unlike anything else I had ever heard up to that point. The album was Fragile, and I must of been only 7 or 8. Completely changed my perception of music. Thanks Dad!
By the way this is my first time posting on these forums, though I've been visiting them for a couple of years now. Great place you guys have here!

I'm afraid I don't follow.... Unless you were a member of Yes, that first comment makes no sense.
|
I'm pretty sure the Lady means can someone make her decision for her so she doesn't have to cast such a painful vote.
I'd hope, even with all the egos involved, no one member of Yes would say "I am Yes."
|
Thanks for clearing that up, Robert! I was very unsure about the meaning of the original post.

It finally comes down to this. I can only hope that Yes pulls ahead, right now it is basically neck and neck with Genesis being two votes ahead. I want Yes to make it to the finals, they are the band that introduced me to prog and I rediscover them every time I listen to them. Genesis are great, but there is something ethereal, otherworldly, and spiritual about Yes. At the same time, although I love Jon Anderson's voice, I understand it is an acquired taste. |
So is Gabriel's, I think. I don't have problems with any though.

Maybe I'm being absolutist.
If you strip down the intentions, the relations, the marketing, the production, the surrounding atmosphere and everything else before and after music, then what you are left with, can be compared objectively. |
That's a rather boring way to listen to music, wouldn't you say?

I love them both.
But Genesis will always be my favorite
This would have made for a great final.

Genesis has made some of my favorite songs, but Yes is the pinnacle of progressive rock, IMO.
