Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I went with Magma -- a long time favourite band which I have more than
twenty albums from, but I really like Frank Zappa albums too. Good
poll, and they are comparable (especially the JRF oriented works).
This is one of my favourites from Zappa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoJLMUBSMkc |

Ok guys. Come the hell on, now. Yes, Magma is insanely awesome. But Zappa is clearly the superior choice here. He's pretty much the greatest and most influential composer of the 20th century. He was one of the most influential musicians of all time, and was a genius in pretty much every way. Of course, knowing the people on this site, Magma will win this. Only on this site.

No vote for me this time...these two are one of my favorite bands/artists and I will be happy to see either win same as I'll be disapointed to see one of these two loose...

I think I am going to sit this one out. I have Magma's MDK, but have only listened to it twice, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. Plus I am starting to develop a bias against Zappa.

I love, love, love Magma (and with Emehnteht-Re they've really made, for me, their best album), but, still, my vote has to go to Zappa because I love, love, love, love, love Zappa. You see that's two extra packets of love and by gosh that's gotta mean something.
Seriously, as deeply impressed as I am by Magma (and I really am), there can be a sameness to their body of work as opposed to the astonishing diversity and variety of Zappa's massive body of work. |
