It is common knowledge here I think RD is a far superior musician to Hodgson, however lyrically Hodgson probs the best overall. In saying that listen to the lyrics on " It's Hard World" off Some Things Never ChangeTongue

Although Supertramp is one of my favourite bands, I do not have a favourite lyricist. Both Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson have their highlights in writing and the opposite. I like their anti-war themes (Fool's Overture, Crime of the Century) and their themes on existential problems (Rudy, Asylum, Hide In Your Shell, Lord Is It Mine). Sometimes their lyrics are interactive (School, Bloody Well Right). On the other hand there are also lyrics from both that do not tell me anything.

As for Richard Palmer-James I am still not sure, to which extent he really solely wrote the lyrics or to which extent the songs were group compositions on the first album.

So no vote for me.

Rick Davies might end up being the favorite here so I voted for Hodgson

all are terrific lyrics writers whom have all used their talants to full extent, all are gifted in the writing of satirical  yet funny and ironic style, passionate, mysterious and quite often hits you on a personal level (right in you mind, joint, whatever  Big smile

only view Richard palmer-James as lyracist in Supertramp not he's King Crimosn works, even if that is impreessive works, he wrote all the lyrics on Supertramps s/t debute and one song on the 1997 release whom i don't know the name of
