For the hell of it, let's add in offense: GB: #2 def, #9 off PITT: #1 def, #11 off NY: #6 def, #12 off CHI: #4 def, #21 off Considering that New York is a weaker team all around compared to Pittsburgh and that the game is in Pittsburgh, it's really hard to argue in favor of the Jets. I mean, you have momentum, I guess, but everything else points to a Steeler victory. Also, Chicago has a terrible offense yet still manages to get into the NFC championship. Of course, they only had to beat the Seahawks with a defense ranked #25 and offense ranked #23. Then again, Seattle did beat Nawlins at #10 offense and #7 defense. That's the only broken game, and it's broken all around. Jets (#6 def, #12 off) beat Indy (#23, #4) with a better defense and a weaker offense. Baltimore (#3, #16) beat KC (#11, #14) with a better defense and a weaker offense. Jets beat the Pats with -- you guessed it -- a better defense at #6 versus #8 and a weaker offense at #12 versus #1. Odds on favorite here is that the better defense will win. Offense has a pretty miserable track record when it comes to predicting the winners of playoff games. |

Speaking of coaches!
There has been little talk from the Jets this week. In fact it's been a boring, mundane week of practice. They don't need talk now. On the flip side Antrel Rolle is shooting his mouth for the 9000th time. Coughlin is too strict, I have no fun paying for him, etc. I hate talk. It was accepted when he tried to pump the team or take criticism. But I don't like all this calling out the coach, and Kenny Phillips joined in. I say dump Rolle, but if he infects Phillips with this trash I'll be pissed. Also went on about how he envies the Jets and wants to play for Rex Ryan yadda yadda I always say coaches get too much praise/flak? Rolle, you say you want to have some fun playing football? I bet you would've had a lot more fun if you tackled Brent Celek..... Sorry for all that, the shock and depression of a blown season has finally given to anger. I'm so pissed at how much of a waste this was. Edited by JJLehto - January 19 2011 at 02:18 |

Indeed it does, and while that is quite impressive, they all have good defenses. So one being a bit "better" (ranked that is) won't guarantee victory/loss, obviously. Offense does also play a bit of a role
![]() I am not making this comparison for the sake of it....but despite the Giants 07 run people still don't seem to believe in momentum. The Jets are on a barreling bus at the moment, and playing for a coach who they honestly love. A miracle to get rings? They already beat the Colts in their house. A beat up team? Fine, they beat Brady and the Pats, in their house, while they were on top of their game. And really, made it look kind of easy. Wasn't much of a struggle, and those points put up on the end were semi junk time for the Jets. A good number of people in the NY area seem to think the miracle has been done already.... All props to the Steelers, but after that run...what is there to fear in the Steelers? Or any team? They are currently in a place where numbers and stats be damned, they are going out to beat you. As much as I hate saying this....same can be said for the Bears. No one really expects them to win, myself included. Does this not have big potential for upset? Especially for a team that's gone way farther then anyone expected. These should all be good games. And defense wins championships without doubt, but you do need to score points as well lol Edited by JJLehto - January 19 2011 at 02:07 |

Some people here might have noticed that I love defense. Here's a funny thing that I noticed:
The 4 teams left were ranked 1, 2, 4, and 6 in scoring defense in the regular season. Where did 3 and 5 go? 3 was Baltimore, who went down at the hands of the number 1 Steelers, and 5 was Atlanta, who got stomped by the number 2 Packs. So far this postseason, the winner of every single game has been predicted by the scoring defense rank. If the relationship holds, Pittsburgh will manhandle the Jets and Green Bay will beat the Bears. Of course, the Bears will have a better chance as they're at home and have a better defense than Atlanta. The Jets will just have to pull off a miracle if they're going to get rings. Defense wins championships. |

Jeez West Virginia you guys really do have nothing at all....having to leach onto Western PA like that!
As I said, would love a Jets/Packers SB. I really would be fine with either winning, and as long as it was a good game, that'd be awesome. Jets/Bears all for NY Steelers/Pack all for Green Bay And I think in those latter cases, the teams I want would win. Pack/Jets? Man I really have no clue. |

If we get a Packers/Jets SB I honestly would not be sure who to go for, I'd be happy with both.
The Jets for obvious reasons but the Pack because I like them this year and think it'd be great to see Rodgers get a SB. Favre tanked so hard all the Rodgers/Favre sh*t died, but still....after all that I wouldn't mind seeing him win one. Besides, I hate Cutler and the Steelers have enough ![]() |

Since we are speaking of Pouncey and centers... they showed an amazing stat during one of our games this year and had to track it down again. I'm sure everyone knows that the Steelers have only had 3 head coaches since 1969 but even more impressively the Steelers only had 3 starting centers from 1974-2006. Mike Webster 1974-1988Dermontti Dawson 1989-2000
Jeff Hartings 2001-2006
I just found this really interesting and hadn't found a way to work it into conversation until now.

Well, hopefully HoF voters will be more realistic.
Being a loser, I actually kinda care about pro bowl voting, but it is utterly useless. The HoF is a different story, and hopefully do a better job selecting. I'm sure some poor choices are in there, but not nearly as much as the pro bowl which is a big joke. |

Hmmm, he's been pretty damn impressive in the games I've watched him play in, but that was only 17.

Ray is one of those picks that makes it on established name alone. This is why fans shouldn't be allowed to vote. What's funny is that even the tv guys can't accept that he's slipping. The only tackles he figures in anymore take place down field, after a gain, and usually with someone else already draped on the player. Even that "forced fumble" he had in the KC game was a gift: the RB was in the process of completely plowing over him and basically flung the ball out of his own hand.
The problem with all the bad picks for the Pro-Bowl, every year, is that people use selections to bolster their Hall of Fame cases. Junior Seau, for instance, made the Pro-Bowl 12 times and probably actually deserved the selection 4 or 5 times. You certainly can't leave a 12 time pro-bowler out of the Hall, right?
