A silly idea for a poll really, but I transferred quite a few of my albums to my ipod touch, and was looking up what's listed as "songs' for X, Y, Z. These are simply what are listed there.

I went with "Zuri Dance" off Bobby Hutcherson's Cirrus -- terrific track.

And I want to mention "Xenos Cosmos" off Janko Nilovic's Rythmes Contemporains (love that album)

Neither of those artists are listed at PA, but I feel the poll has enough that is in PA to justify the forum placement.

I figured someone would say that. I do have Moving Pictures on audio cassette somewhere, but not on my mp3 player.

Here's Donald Byrd's "Xibaba" off Electric Byrd (though if I were normally to choose a track from it would be "Estavanico") -- great album:

I probably haven't heard quite enough of those to justify voting, but am giving it to Zakir anyway

Gong is on here three times.  Is it any version of Zombies or just the original track on Udu Wudu?

I was surprised to see Gong tracks come up thrice. *checks mp3 player to officiate* It's just the Udu Wudu Zombies.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me

A good choice, but I still prefer Xanadu (my favourite Rush track).

^of those, "YYZ" would be a better choice for my mp3 player.  I'd take ELO with Olivia Newton John "Xanadu" over Rush "Xanadu".

Incidentally, I'm surprised not to see any votes for Aranis' "Zilezi".

To each his or her own tastes.  I find that Xanadu fun, and at least if I played the ELO/ONJ Xanadu sans headphones with the wife present my wife would enjoy that Xanadu.  Which reminds me, she wanted to give me Rush concert tickets for my birthday, but I declined.

That's always implied, but I still get to call you silly.  Wink

I am a silly person, and rather pleased to be, and it is a silly song/ movie, but I appreciate silliness.  A complaint of mine with Rush when I used to listen to it a lot with friends in high school was that sometimes I felt, especially in the lyrics, it seemed to take itself too seriously, when I would rather seriously silly.  Mind you, the lyrics could be quite absurd, but i dont think it was generally intentional.

^I love Yamato Gensho, it's beautiful, but then I like more traditional Japanese music very much.  That, Osorezan..., which I consider to be one of my best finds of the last few years, and the Symphonic Suite Akira, while all very different are my favourite albums by GY thus far.

I really like the one I started last night (the all-vocal folk music type material), and Osorezan, and I'm enjoying the track Yamashiro-bushi 'Tanuki', it's on Youtube in two parts.  Unfortunately, the album doesn't seem to be available for less than $50.
