Interesting. Of the 2, I guess Paradox Hotel would be my first choice. As far as the sound, I enjoy Flower Power disc 2, which a lot of people don't like; so I'm sure I'd enjoy PH.

@ infandous - I figured UtF was one of a kind (SR is close to it though); but how is The Rainmaker? since it's in between those 2 albums

I still may have to go with PH, as it's Roland and Epignosis' favorite albums. We'll see.....

Gah!  Pinch

It's so-so I guess, but there's some real stinkers on that one.

oh

well so far it's between A&E or PH. I don't necessarily want to get into the first 2 (as well as Roine's solo album) until Ive gotten their more recent ones

The Flower King is actually quite good.

I always hear good things about TFK, BITWOA, and Retropolis. Ideally I should get those next, in chronological order

Rainmaker is not bad, but was quite a disappointment to me when it came out.  It sounds like a stopgap album, just like Roine needed to put something out (and Salazar literally phoned in his drum tracks).  A couple great songs on it, but overall I'd say it's their weakest album.  The first three (including Flower King here) are excellent.  Get them.

The Rainmaker and Adam & Eve are a little to inconsistent.  The Rainmaker has Last Minute On Earth which is one of their best tracks and the two 13 minutes songs are pretty good but Elaine and World Without A Heart are mediocre. The first half of A&E is really good but it falters a bit in the second half for me.
Just give it all an hour by the concrete lake.

"World Without A Heart" is the best song on there for me.

The song just never really interests me as much as Last Minute On Earth.  Its not bad but I don't find it particularly good.

I think I'll get Paradox Hotel next. I enjoy Jonas' bass work immensely.

After that, I'll get TFK, BITWOA, and Retropolis in that order.

I think you'll enjoy Paradox darkshade, great album through and through.

The Rainmaker is good enough, but as a whole, I just don't listen to it as much as their other albums with the exception of "Serious Dreamers" which is one of my top five FK songs.  It's very different from what they typically do but I've got to say that I love the vibe that it gives off.  In retrospect, it kind of reminds me of "People that Have the Power" off of Wall Street Voodoo (Roine Stolt bluesy solo effort).

With that being said, today is a Flower Kings kind of day.  My at work playlist for the day consists of "Unfold the Future", "Paradox Hotel", "Instant Delivery" and "Retropolis".

Good decision darkshade, you won't be disappointed.  Just remember, Paradox is a bit different album from most of their others.  Hard to describe how, but it's still TFK's without doubt.  Just more song based perhaps.  Anyway, enjoy.

"Monsters & Men," "End on a High Note" and "Minor Giant Steps" are three of my absolute favorite TFK songs- so happy and magical.

So on a related projects note, a buddy of mine doesn't use iTunes and ended up winning $20 worth of gift cards from them which he promptly passed over to me.

Hello 3rd World Electric and Dramarama . . . I've been waiting to hear these two for a while now and today is the day.  (Actually, I gave 3rd World a whirl last night and it sounds pretty good.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised you haven't heard these yet, especially 3rd World.  I actually love Dramarama now, after hearing material from it live.  Though I thought it was a stronger album than the first one the first time I heard it.

Just got Paradox Hotel

First listen - I dont remember anything from disc 1, but disc 2 was enjoyable, especially the first few songs.

Second listen - kind of starting to notice some things in first disc, second disc is pretty good.

In conclusion - this one is going to take a while to appreciate Smile

Actually, it's mostly a reflection of financial things than lack of interest.  But hey, when someone says 'here's $20' well shoot, you've got to spend it.

incidentally, I'm really digging it.

darkshade, great choice, I'm with you in that disc 2 is a bit more prolific though "End on a High Note' is the final song on Disc 1 and is one of my favorites.

Dramarama is a masterpiece for me.

Speaking of The Rainmaker, "City of Angels" is a great song. Even though that is their weakest album.

I know that some fans are a bit ambivalent towards Monsters and Men but for me it is a top 5 Flower Kings track.

Forget what people have said about this track and hear the beauty in it Wink
