Erm, what?

Button won!

That was a spectacular result for me.  Not sure what happened to Sutil at the start... he went from 8th to 17th in less than a lap!

Not good though either, as Vettel still increases his lead. Cry

Also seeing Schumacher lead the race for half a lap was amusing.

I concure with James on all points, especially the "Erm, what?" part.Wink

What, Button is good and so is McLaren, didn't say it sucked. Just not very spectacular, nor were most of the results.

You god damn Brits need to chill out if I don't praise Hami and Button every moment!

^I think I should clarify what I meant in that it was a great race with lots of action and passing between the top 6 cars, something that we never seem to get that much of.

I've been following this sport closely since 1998 and its by far the best year I've seen with lots of close racing and unpredicable races. Even the worst race of the year, Valencia, would have been OK buy the standerds of most previous years.

There's apparently going be a petition out on Thursday re. Sky/BBC deal.

Sign it.

I think it needs 200,000 signatures to get discussed in parliament.  It might be 100,000... not sure.

Spa this weekend. Big news for the weekend is that it looks like Heidfeld is being dropped in favour of Senna. Its not been confirmed but the story comes from Eddie Jordan, which means its either a complete lload of rubbish or spot on.

I know the Renault bosses have been unhappy with Heidfeld this year as he just hasnt been fast enough, but the rumours I'd been reading about suggested they were going to wait until Romain Grosjean had wrapped up the GP2 and then put him in the car. Anyway, I'm very happy to see Senna back in a car, he's much better than what that HRT showed last year.

Bruno Senna in the same colours (read: racing car livery) as his uncle Ayrton Senna. People must go nuts over that.

Could be interesting.

Although I'd like to see Gary Paffett given a drive soon!

The man who Ayrton Senna once dubbed as faster and more talented than himself, has got the Lotus Renault drive.

I think that call for a cancellation of all Sunday's activities and some hours in the front of the TV. Clap

I'm certainly glad to see him back, I rate him to be at least as good as Petrov, though it may take a couple of races for it to show, I just hope he gets that much of a chance.

Maldonado gets 5 place penalty for deliberatly driving into Hamilton during qualy, lucky to still be in the race IMO.

Senna 7th on the grid, 1.2s faster than Petrov, and thats with forgetting to use the DRS on the run to Les Combes! And Alguesuari 6th and top Spanierd is very impressive.

Cant help feel bad for Button being told to pit after just the one lap at the end of Q2 and not take the last lap, I get the feeling he would have been on pole given the conditions.

Yeah, Senna has little experience and to come right out and put in such a good qualifying performance! I'm glad to finally see him, in decent equipment. To think he's already 27, what a late start!

Maldonado is such a tit!

I cannot believe what he did.  Yes, Hamilton kind of pushed him a little earlier on in the qualifying to get the then fastest lap but it wasn't quite so dangerous and deliberate.

Of course, they have a past.  There was that coming together earlier in the season as well which was Hamilton's fault.  I just don't think they get on!

Poor Schumi too.  What on earth happened to his car?  It never was said on the BBC Qualifying show what exactly caused it.

I hope he makes up for it and gets a top 10 finish at least.  The Mercedes seem improved for this race too.

Senna looks fast.  Much better than Petrov.  I like Heidfeld though, so it's a bit conflicting for me... Heidfeld's beard and hair combo especially is a good thing.

And yep.  Button is getting bad luck again.  He must really be annoyed with life at the moment, despite the win at the last race.

Vettel or Webber will win.  Webber's looked quick throughout practice and qualifying.  Vettel not so much.

Oh look.

Vettel and Webber.

Told you!  Haha.

An excellent race by Jenson though.  Also Schumacher did terrifically well.

I do have to ask though to you learned folk: do you think it's time they scrapped the qualifying tire rule?  Button and Schumacher took advantage of not reaching Q3 and it actually helped them somewhat.  Sure, maybe Button would have been challenging more without the terrible qualifying but seriously... he'd still have got 3rd I reckon.

Schumacher probably would have been there, or thereabouts too if he'd got to Q3.

I know teams won't do it but they could easily sacrifice Q3 just for the tire benefits.

No, Button is in a win-win situation and an absolute star. Far more now than when he won the title. He is the teammate in McLaren with a guy widely regarded as the best out there. And he is not getting slaughtered by his teammate as everybody thought he would be. Button is overtaking left right and centre. He is smart as a professor in a car (and reminds us about Prost) and is lightening fast when required.

There was a lot of doubts about his credentials as world champ when he won the title. Not anylonger. His two years in Mclaren has validated his world champ status and proved the doubters wrong. Myself included. He has turned me from a doubter to an admirer.
