Carpenter won last night. His team look like they are going to be in contention at every race now. Not been a good run for RHR since Indy, another retirement. JPM gets his first podium of the year.

Yup, pretty much exactly what I had to say lol
Interesting with the oval/road split they do but you're right...Carpenter and Conway appear to be regular contenders so guess it's working. Glad for JPM
Lots of race to go, but thus far Nico has held off Lewis from pole (with some force) and leading...will be interesting to see it play out. Edit: Massa passing Alonso...oh boy what a sight this is
Wow now THIS is fascinating, both Mercs have suffered some type of issue, they are both losing pace to the field, but equal to each other so dueling it out with slowing cars Epic. So they are slowing down, and racing each other...Hulk is in 3rd... I doubt it, but is there quite a chance for an upset here!

Holy sh*t, that was f**king insane.
Brutal finish, in many ways, for Perez and Massa. Heartbreaking, both were going so well.
Congrats to Ricciardo!!! First win and well deserved with that dog fight he was in.
Huge Kudos to Nico, he nursed that car and guess it's really near miraculous he managed to hold on to second and have a chance to win that late. Will build a decent cushion over Lewis for now.
One helluva race.

Amazing race. Perez must be really annoyed at the DRS failing early on as he would have been past Rosberg and away early on, now wouldn't that have been a turn up for the books!

Indeed.
I really didn't think Merc would make it to the end and Perez was going to win, but such is racing.
I don't think I heard Button's name at all...he must've gotten into 6th by the time of the crash, how the hell did he sneak in there? This puts a small buffer between him and Lewis now, and he'll need it. Though I'm beginning to waver...I thought Nico had no chance honestly and would be falling behind by now, but maybe he can win the title still. Should be quite a ride regardless.
Congrats to Dale Earnhardt jr on winning at Pocono! Second of the season, and his first multi win season since 2004, oi Pocono has a bit of a special place for me since I've been to a few of those and the closest thing I have to a home track, so awesome stuff.

Just a great day of racing overall. That F1 finish had me on the edge of my seat and then I yelled some expletives for about the last 2 or 3 laps in excitement. The Canadian GP is never dull and I look forward to it every single year. Also, congrats to the guy with the biggest and goofiest smile in F1 on getting his first win! Happy with Button stealing a 4th place finish at the end there. Had Vettel been caught up in the Massa/Perez shenanigans, he would've had a podium. Seems like McLaren are making a little bit of progress, at least. And Jr. pretty much stole one today in Pocono when Keselowski made a mistake trying to clean off his grill. Had to laugh at that.

Apparantly Button got both Alonso and Hulk on the penultimate lap, just before it all kicked off in front of him.

Guess they were so pre occupied with the front 4 we never saw that, makes sense...just was pretty shocked to see Button in 4th out of nowhere!
I will give Button credit, he does seem to have a knack this year for popping up in the points, but McLaren seems to be pretty off pace still. As is Ferrari, how dismal! They may very well be going nowhere this year. Like not even a surprise podium due to weird situations, since that'd need Merc, RBR, Williams, Force India and McLaren to all have issues
Didn't see it, hm sounds a bit whacky but a W is a W. Jr sure as hell needs it any way he can get it!

I was watching the bottom of the screen to see where Button finished and because it was on the second part of the running order (showing 5th through 9th), I thought something happened to him and then when I saw him in 4th, I thought their ticker was broken.

The weird thing with the McLaren is that its not actually a bad car, it seems well balanced if a little understeery but it's lacking in overall downforce and the team seems to be doing a bad job of clawing that back. There also loosing out to other Mercedes teams because they aren't running the same Petronas fuel, they have Mobil 1. It's been a surprise this year that improvements to the fuel is giving big performance gains (Shell brought a new fuel to Barcelona that gave Ferrari and extra 7kph down the straights) never seen fuel make such a big difference before since they outlawed the crazy rocket fuels of the early 80's.

Yeah, it's all about efficiency. In the past that just meant saving 1 or 2 kilos of weight to carry, now it means more power.

That's crazy. I actually had no idea about that, especially since all we've heard this year is the differences with the engines.

The stuff you gotta love, yet be infuriated by Ideally it's about driver skill and all the wonkish engineering shouldn't play a major factor but thus is motor sports! Partly why it's fascinating I guess. That is something.
Oh and this probably shouldn't be a shocker but when you said Petronas I had a small epiphany...I've only known the name didn't even know it was fuel. Petronas (as in the towers), Malaysia...the Malaysian GP..Petronas' involvement with F1 It really is all business! Not that the local area doesn't get benefit, but it's not really for the country at all I guess? Edit: Ah I see Petronas is fully owned by the gov...it gets deeper and makes even more sense now

Le Mans this weekend. An hour into first practice this afternoon and we had a huge crash, the #1 Audi of Loic Duval got airborne on the exit of the Porsche curves and destroyed the car. I don't think it'll put them out of the race but they'll need to build up the car around a new tub and their practice before the race will be minimal.

^ Yikes. Cant seem to find a video (perhaps one doesn't exist) but damn was that thing ever demolished. Crazy he wasn't killed. It must've been a specular sight.
Hopefully one of these networks will broadcast some of Le Mans this year. I missed it last year...

They wont have all the TV cameras in around the track until Saturday morning, but there wasn't much left of the car. Duval seems fine, only a couple of cuts, but the doctors have ruled him out of the race so Marc Gene will take his place. Gene was actually supposed to be driving for the Jota Sport team in LMP2 and his place will be taken by Oliver Turvey, another of those drivers that really should have got to F1 but didn't have the money.

Toyota get pole, but Webber's Porsche will start on the front row. Let's hope he gets to drive the car in the race this time, his previous two visits with Mercedes were done before he got to drive the car on race day.
