You must be old! Wink  Nobody uses phones for calling people anymore.

Lemme guess.  People use their coffee pot for calling people now?  CD player?  Lamp?  Confused

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I don't like the idea of having music in my cell phone. I prefer to use an IPod which I use only for music. I just don't like the idea of playing my music on the phone and have it at some point interrupting the music with a ring tone and someone calling (even though, of course, is someone calls while I'm listening to music, in the end I'd be interrupted anyway... but I feel it doesn't bother me as much). Also, I don't like putting music in my ring-tones, having a song that I like sounding several times a day I feel would rather tire me. Furthermore, when I listen to a song, I like to listen to it complete, and just listening several times to the same part of the song I feel would be just annoying. What I feel would be perhaps a nice idea would be to put some nice improv as a ringtone... but I've been too lazy to check out how to do it.

I don't think that Windows thing should be a problem. I don't have an IPhone, but I do have an IPod which I use for carrying my music around and on the car, and I use Windows, and I have never had any kind of trouble whatosever with ITunes. You just download it for the Windows you have and that's it, it works perfectly.

I have 3 mp3 readers with 32GB microSD each totally full of stuff. Should one battery go down I can pick up the next. This morning I've listened to Quintorigo and Eskaton
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I have an iphone, and use iTunes on manual mode to transfer music.  I never had trouble with it, but I use Linux most of the time and have to boot to Windows just to use it.  Unfortunately, there is no other way to transfer music to an iPhone.

Just some Floyd, Crimson, VDDG, Yes, Camel etc.

As for my ringtone, it's ELP's "The Barbarian", but I seldom hear that since it's on vibrate 90% of the time.

None.  Unless you count the cloud as 'on my phone' in which case all the prog on Spotify and Bandcamp is on my phone.

I have Spotify, a great invention. Now I don't have to bother with loading the ipod. Well, still waiting for King Crimson and Tool to join but the latest addition, Pink Floyd, was great.

When I started this thread, it was not meant to be about ring tones. I was referring to the gigs of space. I rip at 320kbps to have the best sound quality as well.

My mp3 player broke down two years ago so I've been using my cell phone to listen to music since then. The prog and prog related that I now have on my phone:
Camel, David Gilmour, Deep Purple, Eloy, ELP, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Harmonium, Jean-Michel Jarre, José Cid, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Mike Oldfield, Petrus Castrus, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, PFM, Quarteto 1111, Richard Wright, Rush, Steven Wilson, Supertramp, Tantra, The Beatles, The Doors, Vangelis, Wishbone Ash and Yes
Almost everything is in 320 kbps

Ooh, not sure I could put Gigs of music on my cell, but the iCloud tied to my smartphone has about 5 Gigs of music, only half of it is prog, so that makes it about 2.5 Gigs of prog on my iCloud. Affinity, Anathema, Anthony Phillips, and those are just the A's.
