I have to give it to the Floyd. They're the ones that got me into prog in the first place.

I'm a fan of both but it's Pink Floyd

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Pink Floyd. I do not find their Barrett-era style and contents terribly interesting, but their 1970-2014 run has produced no fewer than four top notch albums, and only one that I find unlistenable. Whereas much of the Bugglerized Yes is useless.

Tough one for sure......we knew it though.

I always struggled with the Yes lineup issues, singers, drummers, keyboard players.......It's like for some reason they did not want to hang out for the long haul.

Pink Floyd had gigantic internal strife, but they seemed to stick it out, up till The Wall....but still post The Wall PF put out some excellent stuff...

I take Gilmour over Howe easily, Wright over Wakeman and Mason/White are pretty even.....The lyrics lean more to Pink Floyd for me, at least I can understand the meanings, Jon Anderson wrote some strange stuff, sometimes just bunches of words linked together in some prog-rap (TFTO), but non the less I do enjoy it, pretty thought provoking for sure.

If I listen to all Pink Floyd albums, The Endless River really seems to come to a better ending a much better finality to a great band. I think Yes needs to work on writing that final album, but I just don't know who that band would be.

I think overall I prefer Pink Floyd, a much much better cohesive career and catalog.

Pink Floyd for me, with just a dash of Yes.

impressive btw.

Good thing I didn't put money on my prediction of K.C over Floyd in the final.  I am not so sure of that now.

trashing good bands is one thing...it is Floyd for God's sake.. but trashing legends..better groups with more prog classics and perhaps the most iconic prog band of all... is quite another. Clap way to go forum.. never let your tastes get the way of your brains. LOL

The Machine is churning....  is K.C. next to get chewed up and spit out. I wouldn't have thought so.. then again.. I didn't see Floyd doubling Yes.

Wanna rethink that prediction of Yes winning this matchup Ivan? I didn't think they would.. but didn't expect to see the beginning of yet another rout.  wow.

Waters is one of the best, if not the best "prog" ("rock") lyricist. When at his best, he was able to express complex thoughts and ideas in such a simple and elegant way that almost anyone could understand, enjoy and relate to it. Also, as Anderson aged, his voice gradually changed from "kinda cute" into "kinda bizarre".

TER is a great album. I am slightly annoyed it has been bashed the way it has here on PA, but then again, what are you gonna do ... Play it again, that's what! Clap . I don't think Yes can. In a way, Fly From Here was - should have been - their sign-off album.

As much as I like Pink Floyd - especially Dark Side Of The Moon, "Echoes", "SOYCD" and "Dogs" -  I like Yes much better.
Yes, Time And A Word, The Yes Album, Fragile, Tales From Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Going For The One and 90125 all belong to my all time favorite albums.
There is probably no band, with the possible exception of Genesis, which made so many exciting albums as Yes.

Love both to death. Decided to give the edge to Yes, which is rather cynically since the reason why is to be, as they say, tac-ti-cal. At this point the only hope for a really interesting conclusion to this tournament is for Crimson to win, so I've gone to the dark side.

Yes's best is incredible, but their worst prevents me from voting for them.

Ha!! I left that one alone on purpose Big smile From a bass player perspective I much prefer Squire, I think he was much more accomplished bassist. Waters was a much better lyricist, but he still is a bigger doosh in how he treated others in the band....control freak for sure.

Waters/Squire sounds like a good poll for you micky Clap
