I love how 30+ years after the band's formation, Voivod are still basically their own genre: Even at their most progressive and technical there's something punky and ramshackle about their music, the entire Amebix/Killing Joke/Die Kreuzen-style weirdo 1980s dystopian aesthetic holding it all the other. The result being that they're basically everything I look for in heavy guitar music distilled into one project.

Finally, finally gotten around to hearing this. It's reasonably close to the entire Dimension Hatröss/Nothingface sound and vibe, though the more modern production and the fact that most of these guys (with one exception) are older results in something different than either. As usual for Voivod it probably needs a good handful listens to absorb completely.

I was on YouTube and the cover caught my attention so I gave it a try.
I liked it right away because of the heavy intro and the more I listened, the more I liked it.
It's like heavy prog metal without vocals which is fine with me and the excellent musicianship
carries through the whole album.     4+/5
