Oh man I love that first CD! Some of the band's best material I think. The second CD is not even close and not even that progressive if I recall, I don't listen to that second part anymore.
I wonder what you think about this album Mike?

Sagi, this was the first FK's album I bought, I thought it was amazing when it came out, and I agree with you that it's got some of their best material. I randomly noticed it on my Ipod today at work, and I played the entire two discs beginning to end, and I'm still convivned it's amazing.

The `Garden of Dreams' epic is probably their best ever track?! For a 70 minute piece, there's not really any slack sections. I also think Stolt's guitar solos on that particular piece is up there with David Gilmour - tall claim, I know, but I stand by that!

I remember Stolt saying many years ago that they should have released the discs as two seperate albums. They don't really sound much like each-other! But...I actually think the second disc is incredible as well! Some of their most melodic material, and `Magic Pie' makes me smile! But please, give that second disc a fresh spin, I think you'll be pretty blown away.

Long story short - these two `discs' are my favourite two Flower Kings albums!

^ Thanks buddy I will give it a fresh spin soon although I gave it many spins before, I do recall it being melodic but like I said I remember it being much less progressive which of course doesn't mean it's not good.

I don't even own half of their albums but from the ones I do have Stardust We Are is my favourite album.

Same here, but Banks Of Eden is the one I return to most. I'm actually still absorbing what Stardust has on offer.....(triple LP, got it a few months back......).

Actually Tom this is another case where the first CD is much much better than the second CD IMO.

There is definitely a lot of filler on the second half/second disc of `Stardust', Sagi. I know it's regarded as one of their `classics', but that section that covers `Kingdom Of Lies', `If 28' `Ghost Of The Red Cloud' and `Hotel Nirvana' I seem to recall is pretty much all filler and probably why I don't consider it to be up there with their best moments. But how amazing is that run of four instrumental pieces that runs from `Poor Mr. Rain's Ordinary Guitar', `The Man Who Walked With Kings', `Circus Brimstone' and `Crying Clown'?!

LOL

As for Viva Boma it's the sophomore release by Belgian jazz rockers COS - the hippo album as I'd like to call it:

Yup, I love that little sentence too!!! 'Get a gypsy in you'......LOL

Gotta love David Allen's fabulous guitar work on this, although the recently deceased Gong maestro often gets credited. Wrong Allen though...

Cool Samuel! I can warmly recommend their first three albums - especially if you dig the Canterbury genre served up with some unique female vocals. Third album Babel even manages to mix in some Zeuhl and disco vibes, yet it's still unbelievably good.
