ORDER OF THE LIVING is a new Finnish band, the debut album Heartwards (Luova Records, 2015) came out recently. The tracks: Language Hive (8:08) - Heartwards (12:01) - Transformation (3:45) - Plateau (3:13) - Waltz Mirror (3:53) - Waltz for Staying Alive (6.05) - Above the Horizon (4:21).
The music is relatively calm (not rocking at all) but at times slightly disturbing, and always highly original. I'm uncertain about the best subgenre. The general sound is a curious mixture of softly bubbling electronic, ghostly low-key vocals (there are also instrumentals) and acoustic instruments such as guitar, double bass, piano, trombone and trumpet. The band has performed Terry Riley's "C" and they certainly are influenced by minimalism. http://www.luovarecords.com/#!order-of-the-living/h6dhm "Plateau": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oaSPVUZRPo (The subject edited on ground of opinions about the subgenres.) The sample song is quite nice, but we would need more than just one track in order to assess the band.

Understandably so, Raff. I have contacted the band who hopefully will contribute here, in order to get themselves properly evaluated.

It's a nice album, not very RIO at all, I'd tend towards Eclectic or Electronic, there's a hell of a lot of synth on it. Reminded me of Boards Of Canada more than anything else.

Seems this case was forgotten before getting into real team evaluation... (The band is not in ProgFreak yet) Since the record company gave us a link to listen to the album and some positive comments were already given, I'll pass this for the Eclectic team.

I don't think that either the Eclectic or Electronic team use progfreak. Twas good that you posted it in the team thread. |
