Hello,
I've been really depressed lately and found solitude in Steven Wilson and Pink Floyd.
I used to like Rush and classical music.

Just saying hi

hah... join the crowd of 64 million depressed LOL  2020 will come soon enough man.

Take some advice.. I've found the best cure for depression isn't f**king SWilson..he is a CAUSE of depression around here.... but a bottle of Jack Daniels.. a freaky redhead and a strong toss of the said redheads previous date through a bar's large front window. Dancing on a pool table to Foghat songs on the bar's jukebox also is surefire cure for depression.. at least till the next morning.. but then you just start the routine again

micky tested.. micky approved

anyhow.. welcome the site.. if the clowns and trolls here don't liven your day... you are best joining a White Supremist group (registering Republican Thumbs Up) and doing the Trump goosestep..

Welcome Peter Smile...(nothing wrong with your musical choices, don't listen to him)

Hi guys,
I'm actually 31, been a heavy drinker at one point.
The elections didn't help my depression, I can't escape from Trump.
I don't really want to make this place somewhere to talk about all my problems.

The last forum I was on was pathetic. They deleted posts seemingly for the fun of it. The administrator's only encouraged it too.

I hope this place is better. I've been checking out some recent prog rock albums lately, looking forward to discussing them!:)

Welcome. I used to be a heavy drinker as well, and am a depressive. The election certainly didn't help me either (especially due to my environmental concerns). This is a pretty good place, and the natives are mostly harmless. We do hide or delete posts if they clearly break the forum guidelines, but other than spam, it's done reluctantly. I don't think anyone here has really ever enjoyed such stuff -- not even the legendary gunslingers of old during our wild west days, which wasn't nearly as wild as some people seem to remember it to be.

By the way, I often find music with a fairly cold and depressive ambiance resonates, which is partially a reason why I enjoy Art Zoyd and a lot of Progressive Electronic music.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

pfff.. says the man who got himself promoted to admin by the hand of the Godfather... I kept you on the legit side of the family business. You were my Tom Hagen Greg...  LOL

unlike me or my capos.. you never slid a knife into someone's gut.. or had one slipped into yours.  It was as bad and as wild as we remember it to be.. I have scars to remind me.

As well as the NEVER to be broken PA's record for hidden and deleted posts Thumbs Up

Hey Peter...  it really is a great site.  Full of straight boring types... and freaks of nature.  All interesting in their own ways but in the end it really is a great community.. get out there and meet everyone.  If you are in a funk they can help you through it.. they did for me..  I went through a horrible seperation and divorse not long after I joined here and the forum.. and the guys here really helped me through it.  Was a great place to just have fun and get away from reality for a spell.

as far as prog.. there really is some great recent stuff out there. Just waiting for you to find it..

Check out a band named "The Cure". Their music is specifically designed to put magic back in your life imo. Their album Disintegration particularly helped me getting through some quite rough times lately. Don't hesitate to share your troubles here mate, I'm sure everyone will be glad to supply advice to anyone in need.

KEEP AWAY FROM PROG, I warn you - it messes horribly with people's minds (mine did) Dead

Go instead for some real R'N'R, try Rory Gallagher, Photo-Finish or Top Priority will brighten your day for sure (play it loud and singalong at full breath)

Welcome on PA, enjoy your time around Hug

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.
