Hi,
1950 Hard to list "progressive" anything here, but here's a short list of stuff. The order is so-so, but Les paul is definitely one of the biggies that influenced music with his instrument, probably more than the others. Toscanini's version of the Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony always seem to find itself ranked as one of the great recordings of classical music, and the definitive version of that Symphony. Les Paul Charlie Parker Ella Fitsgerald Toscanini (Tchaikovsky 6th Symphony) Woody Guthrie Pete Seeger Edith Piaf Nat King Cole Stan Kenton Billie Holiday Benny Goodman |

Please Please Me - first Beatles album Freewheelin' Bob Dylan - first PROPER Bob Dylan album Even if there were more to choose from, I'd probably still pick 'Freewheelin'. I think Dylan has only had one truly great album in the past 50 years, but that doesn't lessen what he achieved between 63 and 66. |

The only ones that I would go for, is Cliff Richard and also The Shadows... Though there were some great singles or hits around when I was born.
