What's wrong with being harmless, do you want the devil?.... |

In music, yes... tritones are cool. |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

In music yes but I think all great art needs some of what "the devil" represents. As I respond emotionally to Camel's music - their melancholic beauty isn't harmless to me. And it too needs the dark side. Btw: Check out The Hour of the Devil by Fernando Pessoa. |

Van der Graaf has to be my winner, because they:
1) peaked higher (either Pawn Hearts or Godbluff > Mirage/Goose/Moonmadness, imho) 2) had more impressive albums under their belt (6 prime albums plus couple other interesting recordings) 3) presented more unique music (in my eyes) and fit my mood/personality better :) Still, Camel is among prog heavyweights.

Easily Camel for me. But admittedly, I need to spend some more time with VDGG.

I don't know if you've heard any full albums yet by VdGG, but my favourite is The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other. For Camel, I think I like A Live Record the most and as a studio album, I love ...Snow Goose -- especially "La Princess Perdue" (which I find anything but boring, as some claim about the whole album). Just embedding it in case anyone doesn't know or remember it: |

H to He is great too, Pierre, as is Pawn Hearts. Those three are pretty much on par to me, but I like the particular eclecticism of The Least We Can Do... Of course some would fare better with the Godbluff and on albums.
