I've listened to the first seven albums (Legendary Tales through Triumph of Agony).  Really enjoyed Rain of a Thousand Flames and Power of the Dragonflame -- and Legendary Tales and Enchanted Lands 2 were decent -- but the others fell flat for me.

Based on that, are there any of their more recent albums I should try?

Normally I'd rely on the rating counts and averages, but those metrics don't stand out for my two favorite albums; and I didn't care for the top-rated album, Symphony of Enchanted Lands.

I think Symphony of Enchanted Lands is their best.

After they were separated, and there appeared "two Rhapsody's"; I liked Luca Turilli's band better because he is a better songwriter. "Ascending to Infinity" is great, for example. Also the singer Alessandro Conti has very tasty vocals. You can also check out Turrilli's solo albums: "Kings of the Nordic Twilight", and "Prophet of the Last Eclipse". As for Staropoli's Rhapsody, don't bother with the crappy "Dark Wings of Steel", but "Into the Legend" is quite good, you should give it a try if you like Lione's vocals.

Nor is this all, in their farewell tour, their Sweden Rock festival performance was filmed and although the general musicianship is not satisfactory, Fabio Lione's vocals are working miracles for the ears. Nothing but stellar, really. (Check the youtube link I provided at the bottom.) The funny thing is that, the keyboard player Staropoli didn't join the farewell reunion, as financially it didn't seem like a good move for him. I was disappointed, as I thought it should have a sentimental value for him; all in all he spent lots of years in Rhapsody and all.

I've been listening to Rhapsody since the 90s, and I honestly believe they used to be awesome, and still decent. I see you're not very much impressed by my favourite album of theirs, and now that you didn't even like "Triumph or Agony"; you shouldn't consider my recommendations perhaps. LOL

Thanks for your reply!  Perhaps I should start by listening to Enchanted Lands a few more times and hope it grows on me :)

I have symphony of enchanted lands which I think is pretty good. That's the only one I know though. I don't remember it being that bombastic. I would like to hear something that is even more over the top.

Also, I could be wrong but I didn't think there was two Rhapsodies. I just thought Rhapsody had to change their name to add the "of Fire" after it to avoid legal action. I don't know the particulars though(maybe another(unrelated) band called Rhapsody not sure).

A Rhapsody thread is like an invitation for sarcasm but i'll try and be nice. Because besides cheesy power metal, possibly one of the cheesiest, Rhapsody has always produced a lot of drama. Turilli left and made his own Rhapsody, then he made up with vocalist Fabio and made Turilli/Lione's Rhapsody (what happened to his regular vocalist?), and then there's Rhapsody of Fire, so three Rhapsody-s, no wonder everyone is confused. LOL

Cristi you're right, haha. I didn't mention Turilli/Lione's Rhapsody, just as I didn't include the other 2 Rhapsody's (Rhapsodies'?) more recent albums. I think the ones worth mentioning were over with Staropoli's Into the Legend (2016). Perhaps  Luca's Prometheus is also more or less decent.

As for the cheesiness part, I cannot argue that they are not. But I like quality power metal, and Rhapsody has some stuff that meets the criteria for me.

You're both right and wrong. They added "of Fire" to their name for legal issues. But after that, Turilli left Rhapsody of Fire and formed his own band with the name of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody. As Cristi noted, there appeared another Rhapsody named Turilli/Lione's Rhapsody. So things are getting more complicated day by day. LOL

I do love some Rhapsody, but more than loving albums from them, I love songs, since there are many great ones for me, but every album has a good amount of songs I don't really care for. Mostly, the songs that I like are the ones heavy on folk elements, but the more straight power or speed metal ones leave me rather cold. Also, I think after Triumph or Agony their songs started getting weaker, and I haven't really checked out anything after Luca Turilli separated from the rest of the band.
